As an ardent fan of manga, I can barely contain my excitement over Kodansha’s latest move with their K Manga platform! Having grown up immersed in the captivating worlds of Ghost in the Shell and Attack on Titan, it’s a dream come true to see them adding gems like Ship of Theseus and Longing for Home to their already stellar collection.
Kodansha is expanding its global reach with K Manga, and it appears that success is on the horizon since they have incorporated their widely acclaimed manga series “Ship of Theseus” and “Longing for Home” into their already impressive collection. Launched in 2023 as an official English reading app and website, K Manga caters to fans residing in the United States.
The publishing firm has consistently ranked among the top in its field, known for its serialization of iconic manga such as Ghost in the Shell, Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, and more. Works like Ship of Theseus and Longing for Home also find themselves on this esteemed list due to their captivating storylines and stunning artwork.
Indonesian publisher M&C! is rumored to have acquired the rights for digitizing the K Manga series, including Ship of Theseus and Longing for Home. Both titles initially appeared as serializations in Kodansha’s Morning magazine, with Ship of Theseus debuting in 2017, and Longing for Home following suit in 2019.
28 years after the chilling events that took place in the tranquil village of Otousu, I find myself obsessively drawn to unravel the enigma surrounding the mass poisoning at the local elementary school in 1989. The suspect was apprehended, but he never confessed, leaving the case shrouded in mystery. Now, as Shin, I’ve stepped forward on a mission to untangle the knots of this cold case from my past and bring the truth to light. Toshiya Higashimoto’s Ship of Theseus masterfully weaves together the threads of this haunting tale.
As I step into this seemingly forgotten hamlet, my heart pounds with anticipation. Yet, it’s not just any ordinary village – it’s a place that holds the key to the past and future. Here lies a secret, hidden for 28 years, waiting for someone like me to uncover it. Miraculously, I find myself six months before an event so devastating, it’s been etched in history.
Beyond question, the unique art style makes it a top contender among all-time greats. It’s only fitting that the Angoulouème International Comic Festival recognized this manga not just once, but twice – in 2019 and again in 2021 – for their ‘Best Manga of the Year’ category.
In the vein of Yoshihiro Yamada’s acclaimed manga “Longing for Home,” there’s a recurring plot structure: A man mysteriously finds himself in the dawn of human existence, embarking on a quest to discover his perfect partner and a source of ongoing motivation. This cherished series resonates with fans globally, and its presence within K Manga underscores its widespread appeal.
In Kodansha’s renowned works, time travel and mysteries have always played significant roles, so it’s not unexpected to find these elements in their new manga series launched last year. The U.S. readers were fortunate enough to read some popular titles immediately upon its release. They can even sample a few initial chapters for free, but further access requires a subscription.
The rising number of manga enthusiasts in the U.S. has been credited with sparking this project, and the app’s and website’s growing popularity serve as proof. The creators anticipate that adding Ship of Theseus and Longing for Home to their collection will further boost its popularity. Stay tuned on our channel for the latest manga and anime news.
