Knull Isn’t Paving the Way for ‘Spider-Man 4’—He’s Setting Up a Sinister Six Movie

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of comic book movie marathoning under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation and intrigue at the prospect of Knull, the King in Black, gracing our screens. With his debut in ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ it seems Sony is laying the groundwork for something much bigger – perhaps not ‘Spider-Man 4’ as some speculate, but rather the long-awaited ‘Sinister Six‘ movie.

In the premiere of ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ we’ll see the live-action introduction of Knull, the King in Black. Although Kelly Marcel, who wrote and directed the film, mentioned that Knull won’t be the primary antagonist in ‘Venom 3’, he is being hinted at for potential future appearances.

Ever since his debut in the trailer, there’s been a lot of chatter suggesting that Knull might take on a crucial part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In particular, it’s been speculated that he could be the primary antagonist in ‘Spider-Man 4,’ potentially causing chaos and disrupting the Multiverse.

Could it be possible that instead of preparing ‘Spider-Man 4’, Knull might be establishing the foundation for the long-discussed ‘Sinister Six’ film? Sony initially intended to create a ‘Sinister Six’ movie in 2013 within the ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ universe, with Drew Goddard slated as director. Could this be the path Knull is choosing?

Despite initial plans for cancellation by November 2015, the ‘Sinister Six’ project was revived in December 2018 following the success of ‘Venom.’ Producer Amy Pascal mentioned that they intended to proceed with the project once Drew Goddard was prepared to take on directing duties.

The silence surrounding the movie has broken again recently, as new reports indicate that Sony is continuing its work on the project. Given that many of the cast members are already part of this universe, it’s not surprising to hear about it. After ‘Kraven the Hunter’ is released, we will have almost all the main characters: Electro, Kraven, Mysterio, Sandman, and Vulture. Additionally, other iterations of the team often include Morbius as well.

As a diehard fan, I’m excited about the interaction between Morbius and Vulture in that intriguing post-credits scene! If Vulture can make an appearance, it’s reasonable to assume that Mysterio and Electro might also join the fray.

‘Introducing Kraven, the Hunter’, as hinted by the director, promises the arrival of this character, along with possible cameos from the Marvel universe heavyweights like Rhino. If things unfold as speculated, these antagonists might band together to confront Knull, eventually making their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

It appears that it might have been a lost opportunity for Sony to present Knull in their universe first and then pass him on to the Marvel Cinematic Universe straightaway. If they crafted quality films around him, there’s potential for them to establish a strong franchise with him as the central character.
