Kit Harington Says He’ll Probably Never Watch HOUSE OF THE DRAGON

As a gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in the magical world of Westeros through Game of Thrones, I can completely empathize with Kit Harington‘s decision to step away from the realm for a while. After all, we gamers know that sometimes it’s necessary to take a break and explore new virtual lands before returning to our old favorites.

Actor Kit Harington, best known for his role in Game of Thrones, appears to be taking his time before re-entering the realm of Westeros, whether that means literally or metaphorically. In fact, earlier this year, it was announced that HBO had put his Jon Snow spinoff series on hold, as creators struggled to determine the show’s plot beyond featuring Jon Snow and his Wildlings exploring the forest. Similarly, Harington has expressed no interest in watching House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones prequel that did come to fruition, which recently concluded its second season.

Kit Harington, in a chat with Variety, explained his decision to steer clear from anything related to Game of Thrones, even House of the Dragon, due to his desire for a fresh start.

I just can’t watch it. I think for me it’s just I’ve spent too long there. And I wish them all the best. I hear it’s wonderful and going really well. But I don’t think I’ll ever watch that show, and I don’t think I’ll watch Game of Thrones again for a few years.

Kit Harington’s role in Game of Thrones consumed much of his time for nearly a decade. Given that the series has concluded, it’s natural for him not to desire a return to that world purely for entertainment purposes. Additionally, experiencing something you once played a part in can feel different, and seeing how others have moved on without you might be challenging. So, we anticipate that Harington may not participate in any cameos for House of the Dragon.

It appears that Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow, is fine with the spinoff not happening at this point. He stated about potential Game of Thrones continuations, “There may be a time when we revisit it, but for now, no. It’s currently on hold.” With enough time passing, it could become like a legacy sequel. Meanwhile, Harington might get the chance to play Marvel’s Black Knight, a role hinted at since 2021’s Eternals. But what became of that opportunity?
