When Game of Thrones was hugely popular, fans were captivated by the story of House Stark and eager to see the Stark siblings reunited. They finally came together in the show’s final season, and now two of the actors who played them, Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), are working together again. They’ll be sharing a kiss in the upcoming horror film The Dreadful, which was a little strange for both of them – not just because they played brother and sister on Game of Thrones. Kit Harington recently told E! News (via IGN) about the experience of kissing his former on-screen sister.
It felt a little awkward having to stand on a box to kiss her, since she’s a good foot taller than I am. But overall, I felt okay about it. She actually recommended the movie to me, but surprisingly didn’t pick up on the romantic connection I saw between the characters. I remember thinking, ‘Don’t they seem like a couple?’
Apparently, Kit Harington was more concerned about appearing shorter than Sophie Turner during their kissing scenes than he was about the awkwardness of kissing his former on-screen sister. It’s understandable – no one wants to be upstaged by a sibling, even a TV one! Sophie Turner admitted it was strange for her too, telling Harington that the gothic horror project involved them playing lovers, and that it felt weird for everyone involved. This situation is similar to Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played a married couple in Godzilla and then became on-screen siblings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – now that was a truly awkward casting!
