Kirsten Storms mused over the passing of her ex-TV father and Days of Our Lives colleague, Drake Hogestyn. For eight years, from 1999 to 2004, they shared the screen together in their professional journey. In a heartfelt chat with Insider TV, Storms revealed that the sad news didn’t seem genuine to her.
In the course of their shared television series, the actress formed a personal bond with the late actor, Hogestyn. Sadly, he succumbed to pancreatic cancer in September 2024, leaving us at the age of 70.
During an interview with the media outlet, the actress expressed that since she hadn’t seen him for some time, it seemed unbelievable to her that he had passed away. She also mentioned that he was her favorite person on set, a true legend, always cheerful and well-prepared.
Storms conveyed that the departed actor always put a hundred percent into his craft, and her heart was deeply saddened upon learning about Hogestyn’s passing.
In addition to having a strong relationship with the actor, the alum of Zenon shared that she also had a romantic relationship with Hogestyn’s son, Ben. Expanding on her remarks, the actress stated, “I dated Ben Hogestyn for several years, and I had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time with Drake and his family.
The esteemed, long-time actor who recently passed away was a significant figure on the show, portraying the role of John Black for an impressive span of 38 years.
As a devoted admirer and follower, I can’t help but echo the sentiments shared by the executive producer of Days of Our Lives. In his heartfelt statement to People Magazine, he expressed that Hogestyn was an unparalleled team player, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Regarding her stint on the program, Kirsten Storms revealed that she took on the role at a remarkably fast-paced intensity for the first time. Moreover, she was honored with the Soap Opera Digest Award for Exceptional Young Actress in 2001.
