Nintendo recently held a major presentation highlighting Kirby Air Riders, the upcoming game led by Masahiro Sakurai, best known as the director of Super Smash Bros.
The recent 60-minute presentation was packed with information about the game, revealing new modes, vehicles, characters, features, amiibo, and much more. It’s definitely worth watching if you’re interested, as the creator clearly cares a lot about the game and shared tons of details. We’ll do our best to cover the highlights here.
A popular feature from the original Kirby Air Ride, Top Ride, is returning! This mode lets you race from a top-down perspective, reminiscent of classic games like Micro Machines. This time around, it’s been greatly expanded, and you can use any character and vehicle from the main game in Top Ride.
Kirby Air Riders lets you fully customize your vehicle with decals and attachments, dramatically changing its appearance. There are tons of options available, meaning you can create countless unique looks for each vehicle in the game.
Beyond all that, the game features an online marketplace similar to Forza Horizon, where players can trade designs for in-game money. Prices fluctuate based on demand, so popular designs will naturally become more expensive.
Players can get a sneak peek at the game in a couple of weeks with a special demo called the Global Test Ride, happening in early November. There will be 12 sessions, each lasting six hours, starting the weekend of November 8, 2025, and continuing the next weekend. Check the tweet below for the complete schedule.
I’m so excited about #KirbyAirRiders! If you’re a Nintendo Switch Online member – or even just trying out the free trial – you can play online for free during the Global Test Ride. It’s a great way to check it out!
