As a dedicated fan with over two decades of Kingdom Hearts adventures under my belt, I must admit that the silence surrounding Kingdom Heats 4 has been testing my patience like never before. It’s not just the wait; it’s the anticipation, the hopes, and dreams that have been building since that fateful day in April 2022.

I remember the days of waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3, the re-reveal at E3 2015 felt like a lifetime coming. But 735 days? That’s child’s play compared to the over 1,000 days we’ve been in limbo now! It’s enough to make a Keyblade wielder question their allegiance!

But fear not, fellow Sora-warriors! The words of our fearless leader, Tetsuya Nomura, give us hope. A ‘story reset’ and potentially the conclusion of the entire saga? Sign me up for that rollercoaster ride!

In the meantime, I’ve been keeping myself busy with side quests (or should I say, side games) like Kingdom Hearts Missing Link. It’s a mobile game, so at least it’s portable… right?

As we approach this 1,000-day milestone, the discussions in the community are as heated as a Heartless invasion. Some say it’s development challenges or strategic decisions causing the delay, others believe the extra time will result in a game that’s worth every second of the wait.

Ever since Square Enix unveiled Kingdom Hearts 4 on April 10, 2022, during their 20th anniversary celebration, it’s been a stretch without any fresh trailers or substantial news. Now we’ve hit the 1,000-day mark with no new developments to speak of.

The prolonged quiet regarding Kingdom Hearts 4 is quite noticeable, especially when set against the pace of previous releases. For example, there was a gap of approximately 735 days between the unveiling of Kingdom Hearts 3 at E3 2013 and its re-emergence at E3 2015. In contrast, we’re now almost 300 days past that period for Kingdom Hearts 4, underscoring the extended wait fans are experiencing.

Although no fresh videos have been released, series creator Tetsuya Nomura has provided some intriguing details. He indicated that Kingdom Hearts 4 will function as a ‘restart for the story,’ which may make it easier for newcomers to grasp while still keeping veteran players hooked. Moreover, Nomura subtly suggested that this upcoming game could be moving towards wrapping up the entire Kingdom Hearts narrative.

Although this wait has been tough, it’s not entirely uncommon for the Kingdom Hearts series. Over time, fans have become accustomed to long breaks between significant installments, typically filled with spin-offs and supplementary tales. Yet, the prolonged silence regarding any new content or solid updates is quite rare, even by these extended intervals’ standards.
