How To Complete The Hermit Side Quest
In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, the main quest “Wedding Crashers” turns out to be one of the longest. After conversing with Bara and learning about an upcoming wedding where an opportunity arises for you to engage with Lord Von Bergow, you can opt to collaborate with either Radovan, the blacksmith, or Kreyzl, the miller.
Regardless of your preference, each primary objective in this game involves accomplishing three smaller tasks. Given the cautionary advice about Miller, it seems many players may have opted to collaborate with Radovan instead.
Initially, you’ll be faced with a rather simple challenge as the Blacksmith intends to evaluate your abilities by asking you to craft a sword for him. Subsequently, a more complex mission awaits: you must investigate the circumstances surrounding Radovan’s missing hands and the cart that was supposed to reach Lord Semine.
However, here’s an intriguing twist: Once you’ve finished the second assignment, your quest leads you to locate the Hermit. His sword is crucial for procuring the top-tier steel essential for crafting the wedding present.
1. Search for clues around the village that might lead you to the Hermit’s hiding place.
2. Once you find his dwelling, look for a secret entrance or hidden chamber where he keeps his sword.
3. After locating the sword, return it to the quest giver as proof of your success in completing this quest.

To embark on this journey, seek out Blacksmith Radovan first. You’ll locate him by his forge in Tachov as usual. Engage with him and listen to what he has to say. He may provide you with information about the Hermit, which Betty the Innkeeper at Troskowitz can further discuss.
Swiftly move to Troskowitz, converse with Betty, and express your quest for guidance regarding the Hermit. After thoroughly engaging in conversation with her, you’ll have access to all her insights about him. Subsequently, you will be presented with a set of optional tasks, which may include:
1. Task A
2. Task B
3. Task C
4. Etc.
These tasks could help you learn even more about the Hermit and potentially advance your quest further.
- Find out the truth about the devil.
- Talk to the villagers.
- Investigate the cross.
- Talk to witness Gerda.
- Talk to the witness, Stanislav.
Among all the tasks at hand, it’s particularly important that you focus first on speaking with the witnesses Gerda and Stanislav, as well as searching the grave.
Talk To Gerda To Find Out About The Grave

You could locate Gerda in Troskowitz, either sitting on a bench close to Apothecary Emerich’s courtyard or within his residence itself. Given her current state of alarm, engaging with her may prove challenging. There are two options: offer her twelve Groschen or attempt a Speech check to extract the information you need from her.
To increase your chances of discovering the truth, select the speech check with the maximum points. In this case, you might say something like, “Be cautious, Gerda!
Investigate The Grave

Her intel will guide you to a burial site. Use the map’s marker for navigation. Remember to take a shovel along. You might choose to advance time to night and search for an opportunity to steal one if you encounter such, or alternatively, purchase it from Merchant Jurg Thomel in Troskowitz.
One convenient spot where you might find a shovel without raising suspicion is the Troskowitz graveyard. Remember to replace it in the blacksmith’s chest and then take it back afterwards, to avoid being caught red-handed stealing.
Finding and purchasing a spade proves beneficial since within the grave, you’ll discover money, books, a letter, and a cloak.
Buying a spade is worth the cost as it leads you to uncovering money, books, a letter, and a cloak inside the grave.
Keep a sharp eye and ear out for wolves near graves. If you’re swift in your digging, you can gather all the items before encountering any wolf fights.
Talk To The Shepherd Stanislav

As a captivated spectator, I’d guide you towards Apollonia, where a shepherd resides just a stone’s throw away if you head in a southeastern direction. Much like Gerda, Stanislav isn’t one to chatter freely.
This round, I’ve got multiple ways to pull info out of this guy. I could try my luck with Charisma checks, bribe him with some Schnapps, or just straight-up pay him 12 Groschen.
Be certain to verify if you have any schnapps available before extending the offer to him, as failing to do so might damage your standing.
Where To Find The Hermit And The Horse In KCD2?
Following a conversation with Stanislav, you will notice that your map now has two additional marks. The symbol heading in a northeasterly direction will guide you to the location known as ‘The Horse’, and the mark pointing west-northwest will direct you towards ‘The Hermit’s Cabin’.
At different times of the day, you may encounter the Hermit in various settings: outside his cabin, engrossed in work at his desk, or asleep. If he’s not napping, upon your approach, he’ll likely scold you to leave.
You might want to approach him promptly and engage in conversation before he becomes agitated. Instead of discussing odd things about you, let’s try to divert his attention by saying, “I learned some intriguing details about your past…” and continue the dialogue until he mentions the task of delivering Ambrose’s Cross to Widow Margaret. This will initiate the ‘A Sinful Soul’ sub-quest.
A Sinful Soul
You can locate Margaret at the Troskowitz Cemetery, which is positioned near both the Troskowitz and Apollonia Fast Travel spots. Approach her and select “I offer absolution (give her the cross)”. Engage in conversation with her, and she will request your assistance in arranging Jan’s funeral rites.
To proceed, head towards the location marked on your compass and pick the “Excavate the Grave” option instead. Although it’s called ‘rob’, it’s actually where you should dig to bury the bones.
When it comes to the Old Bones, here’s what you do: First, pick the red blooms scattered around the Cemetery’s outskirts. Then, venture into the graveyard itself and, well, let’s just say you might need to pay a visit to one of its residents.
Return to Margaret and finish the task related to the Burial. Upon completion, she will reward you with 45 Groschen, allowing you to then proceed back to the Hermit.
As you return, you’ll come across the Knights of the Cross bearing a Red Star. They may request your assistance in apprehending Konrad, who is falsely posing as a Hermit.
The Knights Or The Hermit?
At your first meeting with the knights, consent to aid them. Brother Arn will request you to ignite the haystack to render Konrad’s crossbow ineffective.
Upon my return, Konrad may instruct me to depart. I aim to persuade him instead to engage in conversation with me, and inquire about Ambrose’s legendary sword.
When he asks for no quick actions, refrain from rushing towards him, as the Hermit might aim his crossbow at you. If this occurs, the Knights will charge in to attack him. To prevent such a scenario, instead, approach him slowly.
He’ll reveal where the sword is hidden, and he’ll also share with you the reasons behind the knights’ intent to take his life. (This version maintains the original’s informative tone while using simpler language and a more conversational style.)
Currently, you face a decision: assist or harm him. It’s advisable to support him in this situation. Financially, it won’t affect who you decide to kill. However, joining forces with Konrad allows for the elimination of knights, resulting in more corpses to plunder.
Despite appearing outnumbered 2 to 3, you could instead hold them off, giving Konrad time to join the fray. This strategy significantly reduces your likelihood of being defeated by the knights.
Be sure to put any additional finds in your chest, since there are four potential targets for gathering supplies here. If your inventory is already full, carefully select what you wish to pick up to prevent becoming overburdened.
How To Complete The Hermit Side Quest
To finish the Hermit’s Journey, you need to locate Ambrose’s shattered sword. Once you’ve accomplished all the additional tasks, the sword’s whereabouts will be indicated on your map.
If you fail to speak with the witnesses or visit the grave, you might not gather enough information about the Hermit, which could make it difficult for him to share details with you. However, don’t worry! You still have options. Firstly, if he doesn’t talk, you can try pickpocketing his Diary of Konrad when he’s asleep at night, then read it for more information. Or, you could skip the whole process and head straight to the location of the Sword, where you can collect it directly.
Head out from the hermit’s abode towards the west, keeping an eye out for a castle in your vicinity. Look for a distinctive landmark: a pair of birch trees standing together. Approach that spot and find the sword there. If you happen to have a shovel with you, feel free to excavate the nearby grave as well.
Ultimately, it’s just a matter of returning to Blacksmith Radovan with the damaged sword now. Since he has faith in your abilities, he will instruct you to craft the sword anew. You should locate the sword within the Longswords category.
The process of forging is the same as what you did during “The Blacksmith’s Son”.
- Start by heating the sword until it turns yellow.
- Now, go to the Anvil and start hitting it. Use full swings, and make sure you move the sword so that you can hammer it evenly.
- Once a side is done, rotate it.
- When you see the color fading, repeat the steps of heating and hammering until Henry announces that the sword is ready.
- When you are done, you will get the option to quench and finish it.
Once prepared, you’ll receive the Toledo Steel Sword. Then, give it to Radovan so he can pay you 25 Groschen and grant you an invitation to attend the wedding with him.
There remains one more task on the list, which involves finding appropriate attire for a wedding. Fortunately, this step in the process shouldn’t be too challenging. All you need is clothing that enhances your charm or charisma. Once that’s taken care of, you’ll be ready to participate in the upcoming nuptials.
