Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has been turned into an official two-hour movie

Instead of constantly releasing video game adaptations, the creators of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 are taking a unique approach by transforming their game into a “unique 2-hour cinematic movie.

In February 2025, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was unveiled as the highly-acclaimed follow-up to Warhorse Studio’s sprawling medieval RPG. This game garnered universal acclaim for its compelling narrative, engaging characters, and remarkable attention to detail, earning a perfect 5/5 score from TopMob in our critique.

Typically, when a game becomes a hit, it’s common for the entertainment industry, often Hollywood, to take notice and potentially develop it into a movie or TV show. This year, we’re seeing adaptations of popular games like The Last of Us, Minecraft, Mortal Kombat, Until Dawn, and Fallout.

Instead, Warhorse Studios transformed their existing scenes from the game into a “cinematic edit,” essentially creating a film out of these sequences.

How to watch Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 movie

The movie will debut at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, showing on July 9, 2025, at 7 PM. Therefore, if you want to watch it, you’ll need to travel to the Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary in July.

The tale unfolds in 1403 within Bohemia, now known as the Czech Republic. A fierce civil war is underway between the parties of Sigismund of Hungary and those backing Wenceslas. In this strife, you take on the role of Henry (Tom McKay), a blacksmith’s son who becomes embroiled in the conflict following the murder of his parents by Sigismund’s troops.

Wow, this is simply incredible! The sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, titled Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, has been chosen to be showcased at the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. For some time now, Martin Frývadlský, CEO of Warhorse, has harbored a desire to witness Kingdom Come: Deliverance II unfold on the big screen. He is convinced that the captivating narrative of a blacksmith’s son will resonate with moviegoers and hold its own against the fierce competition from international film productions.

Under the guidance of developers Daniel Vávra and Petr Pekař, the game’s extensive script, totaling 2.2 million words, originally delivered by the actors, has been streamlined to essential cutscenes. Warhorse Studios’ Communications Director, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, announced excitingly, “We’ve created a unique, condensed 2-hour movie featuring the Trosky Region!”

In the opening scene of the story, action unfolds within the Trosky area, which is now rural and surrounds the crumbling Trosky fortress that once stood. It’s yet to be determined if a sequel will be produced, exploring the events of the second half of the game.

While we’re waiting, feel free to explore some of the top video game adaptations ever made, as well as our 2025 movie schedule featuring all the highly anticipated releases for this year.
