Wow, that King of the Hill revival is really shaping up to be something special – much better than most reboots! Hulu seems to think so too. They originally planned for the show to return in 2026, but now they’ve ordered two additional seasons of the new series from Mike Judge.
Good news for fans of King of the Hill, especially those who are retired! The show isn’t going anywhere for a while. It recently returned with an older version of the characters and was already planned to have a 15th season. Now, Hulu has ordered two more seasons – 16 and 17 – meaning viewers will get 20 additional episodes beyond what was previously announced.
This announcement isn’t unexpected. The show’s fourteenth season, which premiered on August 4th, was immediately popular with both audiences and critics, becoming one of Disney’s most successful animated series in recent years. While the financial implications are a separate issue, this is fantastic news for the show’s creative team and future episodes.
Because the show is enjoying a long and successful run, the writers have more time to develop ongoing storylines, including those that began this summer. They’ll continue to explore unfinished plots from season 14, like the future of Bobby and Connie’s relationship. Eventually, the series will also deal with the situation involving Luanna, Lucky, and Gracie, though that may not be next season.
Revivals aren’t always successful, but the new King of the Hill is already showing a lot of promise, both with the show itself and the positive buzz surrounding it. It proves that even after many years, there’s still something special about that propane-fueled charm.
