King Charles’ Unearthed Letters Written After Princess Diana’s Death Hints At ‘Unbearable Emptiness’

As a die-hard royal watcher who has lived and breathed every twist and turn in their lives, I can’t help but be captivated by the poignant story of Princess Diana and Prince Charles. The letters exchanged between them after her untimely death serve as a poignant reminder that even the most public figures are human, capable of love, loss, and heartache.

The then-Prince of Wales and Princess Diana had one of the most controversial marriages of the decade. The royal couple tied the knot in 1981, and after years of unhealthy union, the duo called it quits in 1996. While the ex-couple had their disagreements with each other, a royal author previously claimed that Diana and Charles also showed affection for each other.

One piece of evidence supporting this is the handwritten letters written by Prince Charles to Lady Diana after her death in 1997, which remain sealed in their original envelopes from that year. The contents of these letters speak of the deep sorrow and emptiness that Charles must have experienced following Diana’s tragic death in a car accident.

Based on Daily Mail’s reports, letters addressed to Peter Houghton were auctioned off for $2000 and contained within them details about Houghton grieving Diana’s death. Additionally, it was disclosed that Charles expressed sympathy towards Houghton in the letters, saying his heart ached upon hearing of the loss of “dear Liz.”

In days gone by, the future ruler expressed sympathy for Hiughton’s potential suffering, stating he could not fathom it. Peter yearned deeply to wave a magical wand, hoping to change the difficult circumstances.

Throughout their marriage, King Charles III and his former wife, Princess Diana, had two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. However, their home became increasingly strained due to the presence of Camilla Parker Bowles, who was previously involved with Charles before his marriage. A palace insider shared with Fox News Digital that Charles and Diana’s relationship was plagued by constant conflict over Camilla, a woman whom Charles deeply loved.

In addition, they mentioned that Charles and Diana’s heated arguments were quite famous, and in despair, Diana developed bulimia and attempted suicide multiple times. From the start, their relationship was deeply unbalanced.

According to Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, it’s not just that Charles wrote letters to Diana after her passing, but they also experienced affectionate interactions before their wedding. Moreover, Seward mentioned that Princess Diana desired for the public to have access to those heartfelt letters as well.

In his discussions, Seward made clear that she deeply desired others to be aware of her affection for Charles, and that he cherished her just as much.

Princess Diana died in Paris, at the age of 36.
