Kevin Smith Revisits His Teen Years In The Semi-Autobiographical The 4:30 Movie Trailer; Watch

As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it like this: Every Saturday, I find myself in the company of three lively 16-year-old companions, our shared pastime being the clandestine viewing of movies. However, one of them decides to up the ante by inviting his crush to an R-rated flick, a decision that sparks chaos. This leads to a power struggle with a stern movie theater manager, portrayed brilliantly by Ken Jeong, and a whirlwind of teenage rivalries.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it like this: “On Saturdays, I hang out with my two pals at our local movie theater, the Cineplex. One day, one of us has the bright idea to invite his crush to watch an R-rated film. Well, let me tell you, chaos ensues! A pompous theater manager, played by Ken Jeong, and teenage rivalries thwart our carefully crafted plans, making for a hilarious tale.”

The movie, released in the year 1986 during summertime, includes appearances from Smith’s past colleagues such as Justin Long, Rosario Dawson, Jason Biggs, Jason Mewes, Jason Lee, and others. Besides these stars, the cast also comprises Logic, Rachel Dratch, Adam Pally, Sam Richardson, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, and Smith’s daughter, Harley Quinn Smith.

In addition to the lead roles, the movie features actors such as Nicholas Cirillo, Reed Northrup, Siena Agudong, Betty Aberlin, Diedrich Bader, Ralph Garman, Kate Micucci, Jenny Mollen, Genesis Rodriguez, and Jennifer Schwalbach.

Looking back on my journey, I’ve often found myself reminiscing about the groundbreaking film, Clerks, that graced our screens in 1994. This cinematic masterpiece of mine eventually led to two more installments – Clerks 2 in 2006 and most recently, Clerks 3 in 2022.

Originally, Smith found it hard to grasp the movie’s allure due to its black-and-white style and unfamiliar actors. Yet, he now recognizes that the film struck a chord with viewers and remains a popular topic of conversation close to three decades after its release.

Smith expressed to the media outlet, “I’ve been on the job for nearly 30 years now, and I believe I fully grasp why ‘Clerks’ resonated then and continues to be a topic of conversation today. Despite being an old black-and-white film from the ’90s, it still captivates audiences.”

The 4:30 Movie will be released in theaters on September 13 by Saban Films.
