As a dedicated follower, I’d like to share my own experience: In 2013, after the Jonas Brothers disbanded, I, Kevin Jonas, found myself in a challenging financial situation due to some less-than-ideal business decisions. However, the band’s reunion offered me a fresh start and a new opportunity to learn and grow. I had the chance to discuss these experiences on Lewis Howes’ The School of Greatness podcast on July 7.
In the mid-2000s, the Jonas Brothers – consisting of brothers Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas – shot to stardom. They dropped their first album, titled “It’s About Time,” in 2006, and graced Disney’s Camp Rock in 2008. However, by 2013, they chose to disband as a group.
In a 2019 conversation with Z100, Nick Jonas expressed that the conclusion wasn’t positive. He explained that following its end, it took several years for their family to recover, and in their perspective, reviving what had ended seemed almost unattainable again.
Kevin tried his hand at real estate and tech
During his free time, Kevin Jonas dedicated himself to business endeavors. He put money into real estate via his firm, JonasWerner, and constructed residential properties in areas around Manhattan, as reported by PEOPLE. Furthermore, he ventured into the technology sector, debuting the restaurant-locating app Yood and collaborating with social media platform We Heart It. Additionally, Kevin managed The Blu Market, a platform that assisted social media influencers in growing their brands.
In the podcast, Kevin openly acknowledged that not every business arrangement yielded positive results for him, as he explained, “I’ve gone from witnessing the start of financial prosperity, not fully grasping its essence and value, to experiencing a lack thereof, to nearly losing most of it.
Lewis Howes inquired about the extent of Kevin’s losses. Kevin replied, “Indeed, I lost most of it; just about 10% remains.
The significant setback occurred approximately nine years ago due to a poorly matched business collaboration. In simpler terms, he had put money into real estate and various other ventures, which were progressing at the time. Unfortunately, it turned out to be an ill-fated partnership, as you might guess. He declined to disclose further specifics but emphasized that he gained valuable insights from this experience.
A second chance with the Jonas Brothers
Kevin expressed his appreciation for the Jonas Brothers’ return, mentioning that it played a significant role in his revival, both financially and emotionally. The Jonas Brothers announced their reunion on The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2019, followed by the release of their album “Happiness Begins” in June and their Amazon Prime Video documentary titled “Chasing Happiness.
Kevin revealed that the band reuniting provided them with another opportunity, and he found creating “Chasing Happiness” to be a healing experience for the siblings, as it compelled them to engage in open, unguarded discussions.
