Ever since the groundbreaking debut of “Iron Man” in 2008, Kevin Feige has been Marvel Studios’ leading figure as its President. As Chief Creative Officer, he’s guided the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for almost two decades, transforming these movies into a multibillion-dollar enterprise. Today, nerd films are widely accepted and popularized, thanks to Feige’s successful lineup of productions. Though not every MCU project receives universal acclaim, there have been some exceptional ones like “Black Panther” and “Avengers: Endgame”. However, even with numerous awards, box office success, and a devoted fanbase, Feige shared with The Hollywood Reporter that he’s never felt entirely content with any MCU film’s screenplay.

Indeed, it’s quite common knowledge among us all that Marvel scripts undergo numerous changes, including rewrites and new developments during filming. Additionally, there is usually substantial post-production work involved in these films. Although Feige prefers to have a complete script before filming begins, he hasn’t been content with any of the scripts for MCU movies. In his own words, “I’ve never been satisfied with a movie we’ve released.” This doesn’t necessarily imply that he dislikes particular movies. Instead, it seems as though Feige is the kind of leader who is always striving to find ways to make things better.
Feige’s favorite approach when working with scripts is what he calls “enhancing” or “building upon.” To illustrate this concept using the movie “Avengers: Doomsday,” he explains, “There are constant improvements being made on the set of Avengers: Doomsday right now, and it’s awe-inspiring to observe because the filmmakers and actors, whether they’re portraying these characters for the first or tenth time, are truly exceptional at their craft. They know these characters inside out, so if they have an idea, it’s essential to listen, adapt, and improve upon it. I wouldn’t want to alter that.
It’s worth noting that Feige has mentioned his contract with Marvel ends within the next two years, or possibly a bit earlier. This would cover him through the release of “Secret Wars” in 2027. It’s possible these final scripts will receive his complete endorsement.
