Kevin Feige Hints At Possibility Of Robert Downey Jr Or Chris Evans Returning To MCU Like Hugh Jackman In Deadpool & Wolverine

As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t contain my excitement upon hearing the latest developments surrounding the potential return of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Chris Evans as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The recent interview given by Kevin Feige, MCU’s mastermind, has brought a glimmer of hope among us fans who have always cherished these iconic characters.

Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Logan in Deadpool and Wolverine may have given MCU fans reason to believe that Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America might make a comeback. In an interview, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige hinted at the possibility of these iconic superheroes returning, despite seemingly finishing their stories.

Kevin Feige thinks Robert Downey Jr & Chris Evans could return to the MCU

In an interview with DiscussingFilm, Kevin Feige shared that bringing back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine would open up possibilities for Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans to reappear as Iron Man and Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This isn’t about focusing on past events but rather finding the right way to introduce these characters once again. It took them around two years to plan this for Wolverine.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share some exciting insights I’ve come across recently. I’ve learned how the creators have found a new way to bring Wolverine back into the spotlight, an accomplishment that fills me with pride. In similar fashion, I believe it’s possible for Downey and Evans to experience a rejuvenation as well.

Based on my extensive experience in the film industry and having worked with numerous productions, I firmly believe that the success of bringing complex characters like Wolverine to life on screen lies in meticulous planning and casting the right actor for the role. Having witnessed the brilliant transformation of Hugh Jackman into this iconic character through movies like “X-Men” and more recently in “Deadpool 2,” I am confident that with great care and dedication, we can bring Wolverine’s story to new heights.

Feige previously expressed in interviews that they intended to pay tribute to Downey’s departure in Endgame without diminishing or reversing Iron Man’s death, an important milestone. Yet, Iron Man himself appeared amenable to the idea of returning.

What does Robert Downey Jr think of returning as Iron Man?

Downey expressed his eagerness to come back, explaining that playing this character goes beyond just acting in a movie for him. It’s a significant piece of his personal identity. He’s confident in how these characters can be revived, crediting Marvel Studios head Feige for their storylines. The actor, who cherishes the opportunity to reprise his iconic role, told Esquire Magazine, “It’s deeply rooted within me. This role isn’t just something I did; it’s something that’s a fundamental part of who I am. And I always trust Kevin Feige – he never fails.”

After the release of Avengers: Endgame in 2019, both Downey and Evans left the series. In this film, Iron Man sacrificed himself to save the earth from Thanos, who had wreaked havoc by misusing the TVA’s intricately designed artifacts (Spoiler Alert!). As for Captain America, Steve Rogers, now an elderly man, handed over his role to Anthony Mackie’s Falcon.

Hugh Jackman stepped down from portraying the role of Wolverine in X-Men films between the year 2000 and Logan in 2017. Initially hesitant to reprise the character due to concerns over potentially damaging Logan’s story, he assured fans that this return wouldn’t disrupt Logan’s narrative flow. Marvel’s intriguing timeline manipulation mechanism enables characters to make comebacks without affecting their original chronology.

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theatres on July 26th.
