In the legal system, Kevin Costner is facing charges due to a lawsuit filed by his female stunt double, Devyn LaBella, and the producers of the Horizon film. According to court documents submitted, LaBella alleges an unscripted sexual assault incident occurred on set during the production of the 2024 movie.
According to the documents acquired by People Magazine, the stunt double stated that she experienced an unexpected, unplanned sexual assault during a non-scripted, Kevin Costner-directed scene.
1) Labella firmly declared that she did not give approval to participate in any such on-screen act, and the experience has resulted in lasting emotional scarring for her.
2) Devyn served as a stand-in for actress Ella Hunt during filming of the 100 million dollar production.
Kevin Costner’s attorneys respond to the stunt double’s allegations
Following allegations of sexual harassment against Costner by LaBella, his legal team swiftly refuted these claims, describing them as groundless. The actor’s lawyer further labeled LaBella as a repeat accuser and asserted that her accusations hold no substance or validity.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to address some recent allegations about my professional life. When it comes to the production of my films, I’ve always prioritized ensuring a comfortable environment for everyone involved. Safety on set is not just an afterthought; it’s a fundamental aspect that I take extremely seriously.
Now, regarding the ongoing proceedings, let me assure you that the facts are crystal clear and we’re more than confident in my ability to emerge victorious from this situation.
On Tuesday, LaBella lodged a lawsuit and stated in her paperwork that she had been employed as a stand-in for action scenes involving Hunt.
As outlined in the SAG contract, the stuntwoman was brought on board to stand in for Hunt during both the regular scenes and action sequences. Yet, as reported in the lawsuit, LaBella claimed that last-minute demands for explicit nudity or simulated sexual content are not permissible under SAG regulations. The producers were expected to provide a 48-hour notice for any alterations or modifications to the script.
She further explained that it’s essential for the performer to be made aware of any scenes involving intimacy.
Regarding the movie, Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 2 finished shooting in 2023 and hit the screens a year after that.
