Kevin no longer enjoys hearing Footloose songs at weddings. Specifically, he’s asking DJs to skip playing tracks from his famous movie because when they start, everyone tends to focus on him instead of the bride. Instead, people gather around him and clap their hands, as if he were a performing monkey trained for such entertainment.
During a chat with Variety, the actor revealed that the wedding scene antics become increasingly wild as more alcohol fuels the festivities.
In his interview with the media outlet, Bacon expressed pride in both the songs and the film, but found an unusual association arising from their use at weddings.
As an ardent admirer, let me share a thought that resonates deeply with me based on Sleepers star’s statement. If I were to find myself in a wedding celebration, my utmost dread would be the moment when the DJ switches on the music. It seems that no matter where or when, these events always follow a pattern: initially, the music is about the bride, but then comes the alcohol… and the rest of the evening unfolds as expected.
By approximately 10:30, the tune starts playing, and all of a sudden, the wedding transforms into an event centered on me hitting the dance floor. It’s as if people create a ring around me and applaud as if I were a skilled performer.
Instead of feeling uncomfortable at weddings by certain songs reminding him of his 1984 movie with Lori Singer, Bacon directly approaches the DJ and requests that they don’t play tracks from that particular film.
In his conversation with Variety, the actor clarified that he adores the song and is extremely proud of the movie. However, he stated that the success of the film was due solely to his own actions, as it fulfilled his personal aspirations.
Earlier, during an interview with a different media outlet, the actor expressed his willingness for a potential revival of Footloose.
