Ken Urker Dumped Gypsy-Rose Blanchard After Listening to Dr. Phil; Here’s Why They Got Back Together

According to Ken Urkler, the temporary separation between him and Gypsy Rose Blanchard was significantly influenced by external perspectives, such as those expressed by Dr. Phil, among others.

During an interview with PEOPLE, Urker revealed that Dr. Phil’s discussion of the Gypsy-Rose case on a podcast, and specifically mentioning his name, inspired him.

According to Urker, many voices advised him that providing her space to develop her own identity would be most beneficial. He recounted listening to a podcast by Dr. Phil, which reinforced his decision as the best course of action, not just for her but also for their mutual benefit.

Initially, Urker met Blanchard when she was incarcerated for the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. They became engaged in the year 2018, but they parted ways before reconnecting in 2019. Their relationship ended once more, and Blanchard subsequently married Ryan Anderson, only to divorce him in 2024.

Following the conclusion of Blanchard’s marriage with Anderson, she reconnected with Urker once more. According to Urker, their encounter post her release took place in April 2024, and it seemed as if no time had elapsed since their separation.

On the first weekend of April, following her release, Urker found himself reminiscing about his initial visit to Blanchard – a time they shared that was nothing short of extraordinary.

In a short span of time, their bond deepened, and within a month, they visited a jazz festival together. Subsequently, they discovered that Blanchard was pregnant, prompting Urker to relocate to Missouri in order to be with her.

Urker expressed that he no longer harbored worries about Blanchard taking time to establish her own identity, instead, he was astounded by the remarkable transformation she’s undergone since her release from prison. He happily shared that she has bloomed into an extraordinary individual, and feels honored to have her as the mother of his child and as a partner in life.

Blanchard expressed that their bond was more robust than ever. She explained that when they initially got engaged as young adults, they were quite immature. However, now in their early thirties, they had grown significantly. Though the love had always been present, she thought it wasn’t the right moment back then, but it certainly is now.

In the second season of “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up,” airing on Lifetime starting March 10, Blanchard and Urker’s rekindled relationship is the focus.
