The latest issue of Shueisha’s Grand Jump magazine has published the concluding chapter of the manga series “Karakida-ke no Kosho Gurashi,” penned by Kei Toume. This captivating story centered around three sisters who inherited their grandfather’s antiquated bookstore in Tokyo’s renowned Jinbōchō district, a neighborhood known for its abundance of second-hand books and publishing houses.
In 2021, Toume began the manga series, and now, following a journey of three years, it’s preparing for its conclusion. The final, sixth volume, which brings together all the chapters, is set to be released on store shelves in May.
It’s not new for Toume to conclude a series lately. The Kūden no Himegimi series came to an end in May 2021.
This manga picked up the narrative from “Kūden Noise no Himegimi,” a series that was first published in Comic Birz back in 2016, then moved to Evening magazine in 2019. The last installment of the story was released around the same time as “Karakida-ke no Kosho Gurashi” started.
Previously, Toume’s work has been appreciated by global audiences. The English version of “Lament of the Lamb” was published by Tokyopop, and this series also had a four-episode OVA released in 2003.
In 2020, one of Toume’s renowned works, “Sing ‘Yesterday’ for Me,” was adapted into a television animation, with Yoshiyuki Fujiwara serving as the director and Doga Studio handling the animation.
