Katy Perry’s Custom Designer Astronaut Suit for Space Flight REVEALED; Lauren Sanchez and Gayle King Flaunt Fits

As a passionate follower, I’m thrilled to share that I, along with Lauren Sánchez, Katy Perry, and Gayle King, are on the brink of making history. We’re set to embark on Blue Origin’s inaugural all-female space mission, taking off on Monday, April 14, approximately at 9:30 a.m. ET. Accompanying us will be NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, astronaut and research scientist Amanda Nguyen, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn. This momentous journey awaits!

This space journey represents a pivotal point for Jeff Bezos’ space venture, and it’s garnering interest not only due to the flight itself, but also because of the unique spacesuits donned by the team.

In this groundbreaking space voyage, the female astronauts will don astronaut garments specially tailored by Monse – a fashion label spearheaded by co-creators Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim. Design collaboration with Lauren Sánchez began in late 2024 to initiate the suit’s design process.

As a dedicated follower, I’d like to share an interesting insight: “Traditionally, suits have been designed with men in mind, but that’s changing now.” In this new era, every suit is meticulously crafted based on a 3-D body scan, ensuring a flawless fit for each individual.

The suits are crafted using flame-resistant, stretchable neoprene and boast characteristics such as zippers at the calves, which contribute to a bell-bottom style. Sanchez found the overall design to be sophisticated and remarked, “Additionally, they add a touch of excitement to space.

As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about the vision of the Monse team, as revealed by the talented designer Fernando Garcia. They were all about crafting suits that were both stylishly simple and subtly edgy, striking the perfect balance between minimalism and a touch of daring flair.

The design team found ideas for their creations by looking at motorcross gear and winter sports attire. During the design phase, Garcia playfully suggested to Lauren Sanchez that he might incorporate a corset into her suit, aware that she would find it amusing.

As an ardent admirer, I gleefully concur that she’d likely have taken that leap of faith too! Fashion might have been her forte, but functionality was always her crown jewel. You see, I remember Sánchez personally putting early designs through their paces, flexing and twisting to make sure those suits could withstand the rigors of flight without a tear or split.
