Despite her public admiration for the program, a source close to Perry confided in Life & Style that she had a difficult time off-camera.

However, it seemed that Katy, being a diligent professional, found their lackadaisical attitude frustrating as she dislikes squandering time, especially her own. The source conceded that the show proved lucrative for Katy but confirmed that she ultimately decided to move on from the project.

In spite of the difficulties, Perry continued to present a cheerful public persona. During her interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she affectionately reminisced about American Idol, expressing, “I adore Idol immensely. It’s allowed me to touch the soul of America. However, I sense a desire within me to explore beyond its boundaries, setting my own rhythm. Jimmy, you get what I mean, right? I cherish the show dearly, but I yearn to traverse the globe, perhaps creating fresh music.”

After Perry left, there was speculation among American Idol fans about who might step into her role. Five months later, it was revealed that Carrie Underwood, a renowned country artist, would be joining the judging panel for Season 23 of the show.
