Kathryn Hahn Reveals When She Knew Agatha Would Get Her Own Standalone Series

As a seasoned gamer who’s been through countless twists and turns in the Marvel universe, I can confidently say that the anticipation for Agatha All Along is as electrifying as the first time I encountered a rare boss battle. Kathryn Hahn‘s journey from supporting character to leading lady is reminiscent of my own humble beginnings in gaming, starting as a sidekick and eventually becoming the hero of my own epic tale.

The title of this upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) show has undergone numerous changes, leading us to question if the current one will last until its actual premiere. However, due to its high anticipation and the information available, it’s shaping up to be the most eagerly awaited September premiere among all series. For those who may not have guessed it yet, we are referring to “Agatha All Along”, set to debut on Disney+ on September 18, 2024, initially with two episodes. Subsequently, the remaining seven episodes will be released weekly, with the final episode airing on November 6.

It’s been confirmed that Kathryn Hahn will once again play the role of Agatha Harkness in the upcoming series. While discussions among fans continue about who else might join the cast, we thought it would be interesting to share some behind-the-scenes details – specifically, when Kathryn first learned that her supporting character was destined for its own show.

In a fresh chat with Rolling Stone magazine, Hahn shared insights about her professional journey and the forthcoming show, dishing out intriguing tidbits that we thought were worth sharing in this piece.

In this article, we’ll share the intriguing moments from the recent Rolling Stone interview with Kathryn Hahn. However, we’ll focus on a specific detail: when and how she found out about Agatha’s upcoming solo project.

What was your first hint that Agatha All Along might be a show?

In a previous conversation, Jac Schaeffer, the writer behind WandaVision and showrunner of Agatha, expressed, “Oh, how wonderful it would be to write for you again.” We ended WandaVision with the sentiment that there was still work left undone between us. I wasn’t sure if it held significance in our world or another realm, but our thoughts somehow became intertwined. I admired her perspective and her humor, and this character simply felt natural to write for.

During the summer, while filming “Glass Onion,” the movie from Knives Out, I received a call from Louis D’Esposito of Marvel Studios, asking, “Would you be interested in your own Marvel series?” – a question rarely posed. My heart raced; I struggled to comprehend his words. Though I grasped the significance, I tried to downplay it until the first day of shooting. A sign on my trailer’s window read, “Welcome to your first day on your very own Marvel show,” and I broke into tears. It was incredibly thrilling, especially for a character I hold dear and long to delve deeper into every corner.

There’s no denying that it might be challenging to give a significant role to a secondary character like Agatha, but she certainly earns it. We’re excitedly anticipating the series because of her!
