Kate Middleton Reflects on Chemotherapy Journey, Says During Her Cancer Hospital Visit She Got ‘So Attached’ to Her Port

In 2025, during her initial official engagement, Kate Middleton, aged 43, publicly disclosed details about her cancer treatment journey. On Tuesday, January 14, she made an unscheduled visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital. This visit signified that she had undergone treatment at this institution and would be working alongside Prince William as a patron of the hospital.

During the visit, Princess Kate interacted with both patients and staff, expressing her thoughts on having a chemotherapy port. She conversed with Katherine Field, a 45-year-old breast cancer patient who wore a cold cap to prevent hair loss during her chemotherapy sessions and had multiple ports attached to her body. As reported by the Daily Mail, Kate playfully indicated towards her arm and chest, saying, “I grew quite fond of it.” She revealed that when she was informed she could remove them once her treatment was finished, she felt hesitant.

In March 2024, Princess Kate announced that she was receiving cancer treatment and needed to take a break from public life to prioritize her health. She disclosed in September that she had finished chemotherapy. While the specifics of her diagnosis are still private, the Princess confirmed following a hospital visit on Tuesday that she is now cancer-free.

In 1851, The Royal Marsden, known as the world’s first hospital specializing in cancer diagnosis, treatment, research, and education, was acknowledged by Kate for its exceptional care provided during the past year. On January 14th, she expressed her gratitude on platform X with a heartfelt message: “I would like to extend my sincere thanks to The Royal Marsden for taking such good care of me throughout the last year. My deepest appreciation goes out to everyone who has silently supported William and me through our journey.

Kate shared her aspiration to leverage her position as the hospital’s benefactor for boosting research efforts, enhancing clinical quality, and advocating for the welfare of patients and their families.
