Kate Hudson says she doesn’t like to linger after a relationship ends. During an interview on The Howard Stern Show on February 24th, the 46-year-old actress described her straightforward approach to breakups.
Hudson admitted she’s been the one broken up with before, but her reaction isn’t always what people expect. She explained that she prefers to move on as soon as her partner loses interest.
“If a guy says he’s not interested, I’m done,” she told Stern. She doesn’t believe in pushing for explanations or dwelling on the reasons why a relationship has ended once the other person has made their decision.
Hudson remembered a time when an ex-boyfriend was surprised by how easily she accepted their breakup. When he told her he wanted to end things, she simply said, “Okay,” without much reaction. He tried to talk more about it, but she wasn’t interested in discussing it further. As she recalled, she told him, “Now you want to connect about us being over? No, we’re finished connecting.”
The conversation turned to Kate Hudson’s memorable role in Almost Famous, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. Howard Stern mentioned a past interview where Hudson jokingly said she wanted every man who’d rejected her to see her face on the movie’s poster.
Hudson laughed, recalling that she actually discussed this with an ex-boyfriend years later, after they had both married and started families. Currently, Hudson is enjoying a career resurgence, largely thanks to her performance in the musical drama Song Sung Blue.
The film, based on the true story of a couple who formed a Neil Diamond tribute band, has put her back in contention for awards. She’s now a leading candidate for Best Actress at the 98th Academy Awards, taking place on March 15.
I’m so excited for Jennifer Hudson! She’s up for an award at the Actor Awards this Sunday, March 1st, right after the Oscars. It’s been amazing watching her shine – especially with how well her first album, Glorious, has done. She’s really balancing everything, still promoting the album while continuing to act. And get this – later this year, she’s going to be starring in a new comedy series called Running Point, produced by Mindy Kaling! She plays a woman who suddenly ends up as the president of a basketball team. I can’t wait to see it!
Kate Hudson is happily engaged to musician Danny Fujikawa, and they have a seven-year-old daughter named Rani Rose. They’ve been together since 2017, but have known each other as friends for over ten years. She also continues to co-parent her two sons – 22-year-old Ryder, who attends NYU, and 14-year-old Bingham – with her former partners, Chris Robinson and Matt Bellamy. Many fans are excited to see if she wins the competition this March.
