As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but express my enthusiasm for potentially revisiting the beloved comedy series “2 Broke Girls,” which concluded its six-season journey back in 2017. I had the privilege of embodying the unforgettable character, Max Black, one of the central figures in this hilarious sitcom, alongside the equally iconic Beth Behrs portraying Caroline Channing.
As reported by the Associated Press, Dennings expressed surprise at discovering that users on TikTok continue to edit clips of her character into popular “flirtatious bait” videos, a trend that has persisted even years following the unexpected end of the show.
Denning expressed that the time was exceptionally unique and he would consider reprising the role if given the opportunity. Since both him and Beth (Behrs) are currently on sitcoms, they’ll need to coordinate schedules, but he is open to the idea.
2 Broke Girls initially aired on CBS starting from September 19, 2011, and continued until April 17, 2017. The production company behind the series was Warner Bros. Television. Recently, Kat Dennings shared her thoughts about a potential reboot, suggesting that she would portray an older Max Black. Her words were, “I’d go for old, ancient Max Black! Why not? If we were to pick up from where we left off, which had a cliffhanger, it wasn’t the best outcome for fans who enjoyed the show.
The show, originated by Michael Patrick King and Whitney Cummings, is set within the vibrant Williamsburg district of Brooklyn. It primarily revolves around an unconventional bond that forms between two women – Max Black, a hardworking individual, and Caroline Channing, once a billionaire’s daughter who suffered a financial downfall.
Two young women working at a casual diner develop an unexpected friendship as they aim to start their own profitable venture, but they need to gather the necessary funds first.
2 Broke Girls, a comedy series blending various comedic genres, garnered a mix of opinions. Some appreciated the acting chemistry between Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs on-screen. Yet, it drew substantial criticism due to its frequent use of sexual, drug-related, and racially insensitive humor. Despite this, during its broadcast, the show earned 12 Emmy nominations and won one in 2012 for Art Direction.
Despite lingering anticipation among fans for a potential revival, actress Kat Dennings is back in action, starring in a fresh father-daughter comedy titled ‘Shifting Gears’, now streaming on Hulu.
