Kanye West’s X Account Deactivated After Antisemitic Posts Spark Outrage; Here’s What Happened

Kanye West’s account on the platform previously known as Twitter has been terminated following a string of offensive comments about Jewish people. On Monday, a notice stating “This account does not exist” appeared instead of his page, leaving it uncertain whether he deleted the account voluntarily or if the platform decided to do so.

In the year 2023, Elon Musk restored Kanye West’s account, approximately eight months following his initial posting of an image that combined a swastika and a Star of David symbol.

Prior to the disappearance of his account, West had been active on Super Bowl Sunday, discussing Taylor Swift and earning a “potentially inappropriate content” notification.

Considering the nature of his posts, they are no longer suitable for a workplace environment. You shouldn’t be exposed to it anymore.

Previously recognized as ‘Ye’, the individual in question shared a string of offensive, antisemitic comments prior to having their account terminated. In one particular post, they stated: “I am a Nazi. I admire Hitler now, what a bunch of so-and-sos.

In a different context, he said, “Some of my closest friends are Jewish, but I don’t have confidence in any of them.” This statement drew significant backlash from numerous public figures and organizations.

David Schwimmer strongly criticized West’s comments, stating: “It’s impossible to prevent a fanatical bigot from spreading hate-filled, uninformed rhetoric… but what we can do is take away his amplifier, Mr. Musk. Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X. That’s more than twice the number of Jews in existence. His harmful speech inciting hatred towards Jews can lead to REAL-LIFE acts of violence against Jews.”

The American Jewish Committee has condemned West’s comments, stating that he intentionally employs his platform to spread hateful remarks against Jews. Meanwhile, the Campaign Against Antisemitism deemed his latest posts as a vicious outburst of anti-Semitic rhetoric.

Piers Morgan added his thoughts on Kanye West’s decline, stating: “I can’t believe that Kanye West deleted his X account… Nobody said that. From a brilliant rap icon to a disturbed, hateful, racist, anti-Semitic, misogynistic, inflammatory troll, it’s truly heartbreaking and disheartening to see such a fall.

Prior to his account’s disappearance, West expressed: “I’m signing off Twitter. I’m grateful to Elon for giving me an outlet. It has been incredibly therapeutic to use the platform as a sounding board.” It is uncertain if X plans to reactivate his account in the future.
