Kaitlyn Dever to Star in GODZILLA X KONG Follow-Up

Actress Kaitlyn Dever is poised to make her appearance on HBO’s “The Last of Us” as Abby Anderson, battling against both infected clickers and Ellie. However, it appears that she has bigger ambitions ahead. As reported by Deadline, Dever will be joining the cast for Legendary’s sequel to “Godzilla vs Kong: The New Empire.” While Godzilla and King Kong are usually the main attractions in these films, along with characters like Mothra, the human cast members are equally noteworthy.

Devon boasts a growing collection of notable film credits, such as the movies “Booksmart” and “No One Will Save You”, along with TV appearances in “Dopesick” and “Unbelievable”. Notably, she was part of 142 episodes on the Tim Allen show titled “Last Man Standing”, a series that surprisingly ran for just as many seasons as “Home Improvement”, despite being less frequently discussed. Isn’t it odd how that show didn’t receive more attention?

Absolutely, she will portray Abby, a contentious joint lead character in “The Last of Us” season two coming up this year, which is the sequel to the Naughty Dog video game. For those who haven’t experienced the game yet, Abby is one of the two main characters, controlling the player for roughly half the gameplay duration, and she clashes directly with Ellie and Joel. With her central role in the sci-fi movie “No One Will Save You,” where she faced off against aliens, Dever seems well-equipped to grapple with some Titans in her new project.

Although we haven’t decided on a title for the upcoming movie (that’s a sequel to the 2024 top 10 box office hit), Adam Wingard won’t be back as director this time. Instead, Grant Sputore will step up to direct based on a script penned by Dave Callaham. As of now, there’s no fixed release date available.
