Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 and Short Release Dates Confirmed for July

Initially gaining significant success in the manga world during 2020, “Kaiju No. 8,” a creation of Naoya Matsumoto, garnered fame. The transition from manga to anime took four years and upon its release, the main series experienced a massive surge in popularity, transforming into a highly sought-after franchise.

The popular anime show has done well for itself, and we’re discussing another project – a game. A movie, titled “Hoshina’s Day Off,” along with an extra short episode, was recently premiered exclusively in theatres. Moreover, there’s exciting news that a second season will be launched in July.

Based on recent announcements, it’s official that the second season of “Kaiju No. 8” is set to premiere on July 19, 2025, and for the first time ever, the “Hoshina’s Day Off” short will air on TV on July 5, 2025.

The second season of the show is set to air on TV Tokyo and its associated networks on July 19 at 11:00 p.m. Japan Standard Time (which is 10:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time). In anticipation, a fresh Season 2 promotional image has been unveiled.

Furthermore, it’s important to note that the recap film for the new season, which you may recall, didn’t just summarize past events. It also debuted an entirely new tale called “Hoshina’s Day Off.” This unique story was exclusive to the movie and hadn’t been shown anywhere before.

Originally, only some moviegoers could catch the film since it had a restricted international screening. However, we’re thrilled to announce that the spin-off story titled “Hoshina’s Day Off” is set to broadcast on Japanese TV (TV Tokyo and affiliates) on July 5 at 11:00 p.m JST (10:00 a.m. EDT). Best part? It will also stream live worldwide on X/Twitter as it airs, ensuring fans across the globe don’t miss out!
