‘Kai-hen Wizards’ Manga to Go on Hiatus Until Spring

Yellow Tanabe, famous for her “Kekkaishi” manga series, has announced a temporary break in the publication of her latest work titled “Kai-hen Wizards (Kaihen no Mahōtsukai)”. This hiatus will commence with the seventh issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday on January 15. It is expected that she will resume publishing this manga during the spring season, as confirmed by the publisher itself.

Kai-hen Wizards started its voyage in a magazine just a year ago, specifically on September 11. Although it’s had a brief run thus far, the series has managed to grab people’s interest, and Shogakukan plans to publish the first collected volume of the manga on February 18.

If you’re more comfortable with English, Viz provides a simultaneous publication (simulpub) version. The narrative revolves around a young boy who, due to his perilous magical powers, is banished to save the world from impending doom.

Tanabe has a long-standing relationship with the Weekly Shonen Sunday publication. Her career took off with the creation of Kekkaishi, which debuted in 2003 and concluded after eight prosperous years in 2011. This series also inspired an anime adaptation that aired from 2006 to 2008. The anime was initially released on DVD by Viz Media in 2011, while Discotek Media later distributed it on Blu-ray in June 2022.

After the completion of “Kekkaishi”, Tanabe began another series titled “Birdmen” in July 2013, which came to an end in February 2020. This consistent delivery of captivating narratives has solidified her reputation in the manga community, and fans are eagerly waiting for updates on “Kai-hen Wizards” following its temporary hiatus.
