As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Hollywood dynamics, I find it fascinating to delve into the behind-the-scenes stories of our favorite celebrities. The tale of Matthew Lawrence and Justin Timberlake‘s rocky start on the sets of “The Boy Meets World” is a classic example of how fame, crushes, and interpersonal dynamics can sometimes create unexpected tension.
On the sets of “The Boy Meets World,” Matthew Lawrence found it challenging to establish a friendship with Justin Timberlake. During his chat on the podcast “Pod Meets World,” the actor reminisced about an instance where Timberlake was irritated when he discovered that Lawrence had feelings for Danielle Fishel.
During their discussion, Lawrence shared that he admired Timberlake’s work, but it seemed their relationship started on a tense note with the singer from No Angels. In conversation with his fellow cast members Fishel, Will Friedle, and Ryder Strong, Lawrence stated that Timberlake didn’t hold him in high regard, and even admitted this directly to Lawrence.
The Double Threat actor disclosed, “You may recall, but just in case, when NSYNC often visited the set? I discovered much later, upon running into Justin, that he believed I wasn’t particularly kind.” He went on to say, “He didn’t appreciate me. And he openly told me so directly.
The famous actor from Hollywood mentioned that when he approached the singer to congratulate him on his debut solo album, the singer responded coldly, leading to a tense interaction. When the actor (from Jumping Ship) tried to talk to the singer (Timberlake), the singer retorted sarcastically, “Oh really? Really? Now you want to be friends with me? You were so rude on set,” as remembered by the actor.
In the meantime, Lawrence disclosed information about his affection for Fishel. He confided in his fellow actors by saying, “I must confess, I had quite a fondness for Danielle. These men would frequently appear on set, attempting to court her!
Shortly after, Strong joined the discussion with the comment that the band was “constantly rotating around Danielle.” Meanwhile, Fishel couldn’t help but laugh and exclaim, “I was just waiting for you to say it! I thought, ‘I too understand why he might have been a bit aloof.’
Apart from Lawrence, it wasn’t just the boy band members who found the actress intriguing on set. In fact, Fishel was a popular subject among them.
He said, “Usually, we’d say, ‘Look at these guys! Incredible, they show up here.’ And Danielle would pay no attention to any of us.” The podcast host went on to explain, “We’d lose sight of our sister. We’d just lose her, and we’d think, ‘Oh my goodness. She transforms completely around them. She becomes a totally different person.’
In their discussion, the former castmates of Boy Meets World mentioned Lance Bass, who dated Maitland Ward (Fishel’s character) for a year. However, it was later revealed that Lance is gay.
