Justin Baldoni’s legal team is confirming their ongoing court dispute with Blake Lively, who filed a lawsuit against him on December 20, alleging sexual misconduct in California.
On Tuesday, January 7th, as reported by People, Bryan Freeman – lawyer for the It Ends with Us actor and director – pointed out that it’s ironic for Lively to accuse Baldoni of using the media to his advantage when her own team had previously instigated an attack against him. This was done by sending The New York Times inaccurately edited documents before even lodging a complaint.
Freeman stated that we’re making all the information public, revealing a pattern of bullying and attempts to seize control over the movie ‘It Ends With U’. Freeman claimed that the evidence against the former Gossip Girl star would not be unexpected, as her past actions have consistently involved bullying and threatening others in order to get what she wanted.
“We have all the receipts and more.”
Freeman’s statement was made after Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, age 40, on New Year’s Eve. Not only is she suing her co-star, but also his publicists and producing partners. She accuses them of sexual harassment and launching a malicious smear campaign to damage her reputation as retaliation.
On Monday, January 6th, it was reported by a certain publication that Lively’s allegations of sexual harassment and retribution, which she deems substantial, are supported by solid evidence. This evidence is set to be presented in a federal court.
The lawyer for the actress clarified that her dispute with Baldoni is not based on creative disagreements or a back-and-forth argument, but rather stems from the actor and his companions allegedly engaging in “illegal, retaliatory online smear campaigns” against her when she merely tried to ensure safety on the film set.
In every job setting and sector, it’s unequivocally unlawful to engage in sexual harassment or retaliation, according to Lively’s legal representatives.
Previously, Freeman suggested to People that Lively may have made accusations against Baldoni as a way to improve her own public image. This came after numerous instances of Lively’s unpleasant behavior towards the media were revealed during the promotional tour for ‘It Ends with Us’, which seemed to damage her reputation.
It’s important to mention that Baldoni has filed a libel lawsuit against The New York Times, claiming they collaborated with Lively to orchestrate a damaging public attack.
