Justin Baldoni STOPS Ryan Reynolds From Exiting 400 Million USD Lawsuit Against Blake Lively: ‘Based on His Direct Actions…’

Justin Baldoni and his lawyers are countering Ryan Reynold’s request to throw out a lawsuit that is part of a longer-standing legal disagreement, which also involves Blake Lively.

As reported by Us Weekly on Thursday, April 3, Baldoni’s legal team disputes Reynolds’ assertion that he is not liable based on the allegations in the Wayfarer Parties’ First Amended Complaint (the ‘FAC’). According to Baldoni’s lawyers, Reynolds is not simply a supportive spouse as he claims.

In simpler terms, Justin Baldoni’s lawyers asserted that the lawsuit clearly outlines Reynolds’ active participation and his possible function as an accomplice. Furthermore, they suggested that if the motion to discard the case is granted, Reynolds would not be eligible for reimbursement of legal fees.

A representative for Ryan Reynolds countered Baldoni’s court filing by informing Us Weekly that the Wayfarer Parties’ objection to Reynolds’ request to throw out the case simply highlighted the flaws in their initial claim.

As per the statement, they persisted in asserting defamation, yet failed to specify who was targeted, exactly what remarks were made, or demonstrate any tangible damage inflicted.

The representative additionally commented on Reynolds’ involvement in the situation, stating that unlike Baldoni, whose reputation is based on being a man who heeds women’s voices, Reynolds genuinely embodies these ideals and will remain devoted to his partner.

In simpler terms, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, argued that they have the authority to proceed with the case, challenging the notion that the allegations are baseless. He stated in a release that actress Lively and her high-profile Hollywood associates cannot impede his clients from exercising their constitutional right to seek judicial redress to disprove her damaging accusations against them.

Freedman stated, “Ms. Lively’s actions aim to establish a perilous pattern by denying access to the courtroom for my clients, infringing upon their constitutional right to be heard, as guaranteed by the First Amendment.

The conflict over legal matters started in December 2024, when Blake Lively claimed that Justin Baldoni, her co-star and director on It Ends With Us, had subjected her to sexual harassment and orchestrated a malicious campaign against her. Baldoni refuted these claims by filing a USD 400 million lawsuit against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and Lively’s publicist.

In response, Reynolds’ legal team submitted a request to have the lawsuit thrown out, contending that it failed to pinpoint any particular defamatory comment made by him. They expressed that the case appears to rest solely on the assertion that Reynolds had privately labeled Baldoni as a ‘predator.’

Yet, they contended that it wasn’t considered defamation unless it could be proven that Reynolds didn’t genuinely believe the statement was accurate. Additionally, they highlighted that Lively had made private complaints about Baldoni’s alleged sexual harassment and retaliation on multiple occasions, and argued that Reynolds exercised his First Amendment right to voice his opinion.
