‘Just Really Triggered Me’: Kylie Jenner Opens Up About Struggles Of Naming Her Son While Battling Postpartum Depression

As someone who has followed Kylie Jenner‘s journey since her days on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” it’s heartening to see her speak candidly about her struggles with postpartum depression, a topic that is often overlooked and underrepresented. Her experience resonates deeply with many mothers who have faced similar challenges in silence.

Kylie Jenner is famous for her luxurious way of life, but privately, the television personality has encountered struggles that numerous mothers can relate to. In an open conversation with British Vogue, Jenner shared her personal journey with postpartum depression after welcoming her two children, Stormi and Aire, whom she co-parents with her former partner Travis Scott.

After giving birth to both of her children, Jenner openly shared that she struggled with postpartum depression for approximately a year. Looking back, she expressed, “At age 27, I’m starting to feel like my true self once more.”

During this period, the influential figure in cosmetics candidly shared her struggles with managing daily life. She expressed, “I lived in sweatpants throughout my pregnancy, there were so many aspects of my life I couldn’t find time to sort out, and postpartum lasted a whole year. Mentally, it was tough. Physically, it was challenging too.”

As a lifestyle expert, I can relate to Jenner’s experience when she grappled with intense emotions postpartum after welcoming her son, Aire. She aptly referred to it as a challenging period of “major baby blues,” a rollercoaster of feelings that made even the simplest decisions seem daunting.

She noted that the experience was distinct on each occasion. It’s possible that with her son, she experienced postpartum depression, which made her feel incredibly emotional about things that usually wouldn’t affect her in such a way.

Jenner additionally disclosed that she often found herself emotionally overwhelmed, speaking extensively with her mom, Kris Jenner, over the phone, grappling with what may appear to be trivial matters like deciding on a name for her newborn.

One challenging part of Jenner’s postpartum experience was deciding on a name for her newborn son, as she confessed that struggling to find the perfect name made her feel like a failure.

Initially, when she encountered him, he seemed incredibly beautiful to her, leaving her in disbelief at his perfection. She felt overwhelmed by her own shortcomings and struggled to give him a name. This feeling of inadequacy weighed heavily on her, and she admitted, “He deserved far greater than what I could offer. That realization truly upset me.”

jenner’s recommendations for new mothers are shaped by her personal experiences. She advises choosing a name for the baby prior to birth, which could help prevent the emotional upheaval often encountered when making such decisions in the postnatal phase.

She said that her advice to all of those who are having children is to choose a name before the hormones kick in because you won’t be able to make decisions. “You can’t,” she said.

As a lifestyle expert, let me share an interesting update: After the arrival of my little one in February 2022, my partner and I initially chose the name Wolf Jacques. However, within a month, we felt that this name didn’t quite resonate with our son’s unique identity. So, to clear any confusion, I wanted to share on my Instagram Story that we had decided to change his name. It seems many are still referring to him as Wolf, but rest assured, he goes by another name now.

In January 2023, Jenner publicly revealed that she had named her son Aire. This name holds a unique significance as it is interpreted as ‘Lion of God’. (According to PEOPLE)
