‘Just Can’t Do It’: Sarah Paulson Reveals Pedro Pascal Drags Her To Watch Horror Movies

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Hollywood trends and a soft spot for the evolution of acting talent, I must say that Sarah Paulson‘s journey into the horror and thriller genre is nothing short of captivating. Her unique ability to portray fear and intensity on-screen while maintaining a seemingly unfazed demeanor off-screen is truly remarkable.

Actress Sarah Paulson, well-known in Hollywood, has been making a name for herself in the realm of horror and suspense films. In a recent conversation, she admitted that despite her involvement in numerous terrifying productions, she finds it difficult to watch scary movies herself.

As a fervent admirer eagerly anticipating my upcoming thriller, “Hold Your Breath,” I must confess that my good friend Pedro Pascal has made countless attempts to lure me into the realm of horror films. Alas, I often turn into a timid soul when confronted with such spine-chilling content. Yet, ironically, I’ve delivered some of my most memorable performances in this very genre.

During an interview with PEOPLE regarding her project, Hold Your Breath, Sarah Paulson mentioned that Pedro Pascal, a dear friend of hers, frequently encourages her to watch horror films. However, she doesn’t want to focus on their friendship in this context as it might distract from discussing the movie itself.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share an unforgettable encounter I had with Pascal. He suggested a chilling horror flick named Hereditary, a role that bore a striking resemblance to Toni Colette’s haunting portrayal in the film. Ironically, despite playing a character reminiscent of Hereditary, I never watched the movie nor drew inspiration from it. In fact, when Pascal enthusiastically urged me to watch it, my immediate response was, “There’s no way in hell I’m watching that movie!” You see, everyone around me is constantly pushing me to watch the Conjuring movies because they adore Vera Farmiga, but for some reason, I just can’t bring myself to do it.

Sarah expressed that she simply cannot take on the role, instead preferring to rely on her own intuition for portraying characters. She admires the actresses who have excelled in notable projects and wishes to emulate some of their talents.

When asked about her approach to playing these intense roles, the actress explained, “Many actors today prefer to make things seem casual for authenticity. However, what draws me to this genre is that every aspect of a character’s life in these stories feels like a matter of life and death because, more often than not, it actually is. This suits my dramatic nature, as I have always had strong emotional responses to situations. In these roles, I feel that my flair for the dramatic truly fits.”

In this genre, American Horror Story brought out her full potential. Since then, Sarah’s connection to this horror genre has been like a complex marriage – both challenging and rewarding. While working on America Horror Story, she never shied away from the horror elements but instead sought to amplify them. Her intention was always to deliver an impactful portrayal of her character’s actions.

Despite the fact that Sarah Paulson finds horror movies difficult to watch, she’s undeniably brilliant at portraying roles within this genre. In case you haven’t heard, her upcoming film “Hold Your Breath” will be premiering on Hulu on October 3rd, 2024.
