‘Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’ Creator Scott Kreamer Discusess THAT Major Crossover

As a seasoned gamer and Jurassic World fanatic, I can confidently say that the latest addition to the franchise, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, has been nothing short of exhilarating. Being an avid follower of the series since its inception, I was overjoyed to see the return of Soyona Santos, a character whose enigmatic presence left quite an impression in the movies.

Considering the entirety of the Jurassic series, what initially began as a daring cinematic endeavor has evolved into one of the most cherished franchise collections worldwide. Currently, films from this series continue to be produced, and there are numerous other related projects in progress as well.

As a devoted fan, I’d say that “Jurassic World: Chaos Theory” is one of those projects that really hits the mark! This engrossing animated series serves as a continuation from “Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous,” providing intriguing insights between the latest films in the franchise. The second season has been gracing our screens on Netflix since October 17, 2014.

Due to the show’s triumph and widespread appeal, representatives from ComicBookMovie.com engaged in a discussion with co-showrunner Scott Kreamer. He shared fascinating insights about the series, such as the anticipated major crossover event that fans have been eagerly anticipating. Stay tuned to learn more!

In the films, Soyona Santos emerged as a standout character, and despite being portrayed as a villain, fans adored her, making her comeback in “Chaos Theory” particularly welcome. Upon being questioned about this, Kreamer commented:

ROHAN: For this season, we’ve got a newcomer named Soyona Santos, who you might remember from the movie “Dominion”. Since the series happens before the film’s events, I’m curious to know what circumstances led to Dichen Lachman being cast in her role. Was it part of the initial plan or did things fall into place later on?

SCOTT: We didn’t encounter Dominion until later on. At the beginning, when we were delving into Chaos Theory, none of us had watched Dominion as it was being made during the pandemic and was still in post-production. So, a group of us who are part of the show’s management and writing team went to Universal to watch an early version of the movie.

Initially, the movie we watched differed from its current version, due to the ongoing pandemic, we were seated in separate rows with masks on. As we watched, Dichen’s portrayal of Sayona Santos stood out remarkably, even catching the attention of our head writer, Bethany Armstrong Johnson. Following the screening, we expressed that we weren’t sure how it all fit together yet.

Despite its uncertain placement within the storyline, we’re determined to include that character in our show. Fortunately, Colin Trevorrow agreed, as he’s an integral part of our team for this series and seasons. This is why Colin supported the idea, and thus, it became a reality. Essentially, we were intrigued by the white-clad woman in Dominion, wanting to delve deeper into her story. And that’s how everything fell into place.

Regarding the subject of crossovers, Kreamer was questioned if Santos would be the sole character of this type. Here’s his response:

ROHAN: Have there been talks about including other notable characters from the series like Santos, or is he unique in this regard?

SCOTT: We’re careful not to reveal too much, but there are indeed many fascinating characters from the movies that we’d like to incorporate into our series. However, it needs to align with our characters and the films’ continuity. We don’t want scenes where our characters wouldn’t have been present originally. Looking back at Camp Cretaceous, or even the man in yellow getting swallowed by a Mosasaurus, we enjoy telling stories from unique perspectives. To address your question directly, yes, there are several characters I’d be thrilled to introduce into the show.

He finally answered one question that connects Santos and Brooklyn, a very important character from the series we have already talked about:

ROHAN: I’ve got a feeling Santos is bound for Malta soon. However, we all remember that Brooklyn wasn’t alongside her in the movie. So, what’s next on their adventure? Can you give us a hint about when or where they might reconnect with their friends?

SCOTT: Essentially, the children are amazed and confused because Brooklyn’s alive now and she walked away from us with the villain. This will likely lead to varying emotional reactions among the group members, potentially causing significant changes in relationships. Since we know that Brooklyn is going with Soyona Santos, and given where she’s heading, it seems probable that she’ll be with her on her journey or already is with her now. However, Brooklyn isn’t in Dominion anymore; she’s with Santos at the moment. Let’s hope we get to continue telling this story on the show.
