In the upcoming Marvel film, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps, set to be released in just two weeks, Julia Garner is cast as the female version of Silver Surfer.
Fan sentiment towards Feige and the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been less than satisfied following “Endgame”, as demonstrated by a series of flops in both cinemas and on Disney+. The most recent disappointments include “Captain America: New World Order”, “Thunderbolts”, “Ironheart” and “Daredevil: Rebirth”.

Fans worried Fantastic Four is woke
Besides concerns about Julia Garner playing the female Silver Surfer, fans are expressing apprehension that Sue Storm might be portrayed as a strong, decisive figure in the upcoming Fantastic Four. Recently, Marvel Comics unveiled a new comic book series where Sue appears to be commanding the team, with Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) no longer holding the leadership role.
In the film, Pedro Pascal’s character Reed, Joseph Quinn’s Johnny, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s character The Thing appear to be portrayed as less traditionally masculine, which aligns with Kevin Feige’s post-Endgame approach that has been criticized by some.
