Jujutsu Kaisen Creator Gege Akutami Reveals The Origin Of Gojo’s Infamous Shades

As a dedicated fan who’s been following Jujutsu Kaisen since its inception, I can confidently say that Satoru Gojo is one of the most intriguing characters in the shonen genre today. His enigmatic persona, combined with his extraordinary powers and unique quirks, has made him a global sensation.

Jujutsu Kaisen has garnered a widespread fanbase, with its lead character, Satoru Gojo, being a significant draw. Creator Gege Akutami disclosed that Gojo’s distinctive sunglasses were an accessory he wore since middle school and persisted through high school. Akutami revealed this detail during a Shueisha Q&A session, where fans asked about the origin of Gojo’s sunglasses. The series continues to be popular globally, making it essential viewing for shonen anime enthusiasts.

Akutami commented through Myamura, “He always wore sunglasses because he had six eyes and found it hard to see too much. It’s only natural that he started wearing them even before high school. Thinking about middle school Gojo with sunglasses just doesn’t sit right with me, so let’s not speculate on that.”

It is thought that Gojo’s sunglasses are connected to the unique clan technique he possesses due to his Six Eyes ability. This rare trait, similar to a hawk’s vision, grants Gojo unlimited power and the capacity to detect cursed energy from afar. Acting like a powerful infrared camera, his Six Eyes can see objects from kilometers away, but this extraordinary sight can cause discomfort. Wearing sunglasses, even at night, helps him manage this excessive input.

Gojo presents a multi-faceted personality: he’s laid-back and jovial around his pupils and intimate associates; however, when it comes to sorcerer administrators and adversaries, he can be ruthless and disdainful – this is evident in the way he handles Principal Gakuganji.

With unshakable self-assurance, he views himself as an unbeatable force. His evaluation of others frequently relies on their perceived strength, and he tends to be indifferent towards those he considers feeble. The thirst for power fuels his haughtiness.

Gojo demonstrates an extraordinary physical strength, making even formidable spells seem manageable. With his mighty blows, he inflicted serious wounds on Jogo, tearing off the opponent’s head and arm. He also uprooted Hanami effortlessly at his leisure, and it appears that dismembering transformed humans is no challenge for him either.

Gojo is an astonishingly swift combatant, moving faster than the human eye can follow. He effortlessly outmatched Jogo, landing strikes so swift they were barely noticeable. Gojo could swiftly react to and dodge attacks from Toji Fushiguro, a powerful adversary. He’s capable of annihilating a thousand transformed humans within five minutes, and he even surpasses Uraume, a potent sorcerer, almost taking down Kenjaku if not for Sukuna’s timely intervention.

During his battle against Sukuna, Gojo displayed remarkable speed, consistently outrunning Sukuna in close combat. He frequently put Sukuna on the defensive and took him by surprise. Remarkably, Gojo was able to match the speed of Sukuna, Mahoraga, and Agito, the Chimera Beast, all at once.
