The news has ignited enthusiasm among followers, as some allude to the singers’ possible past relationship, hinting at a shared ex named Joshua Bassett.
Following the announcement of the Lollapalooza lineup, fans flocked to social media platforms to express their opinions. Many noted the past connections between Rodrigo and Carpenter with Joshua Bassett, sparking discussions on how he might respond.

The announcement arrives during Olivia’s ongoing GUTS world tour, a journey that started in February 2024 and extends until July 1, 2025. On the other hand, Sabrina is currently engaged in her Short N’ Sweet tour, having recently entertained crowds in Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester, and Paris.
It’s been speculated that Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett had a romantic relationship during the filming of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, which debuted on Disney+ in 2019. Their alleged split was widely discussed among fans when Olivia Rodrigo released Driver’s License in January 2021, a song thought to be about Bassett.
In addition to numerous theories, it’s been suggested that Carpenter might have been the ‘blonde woman’ alluded in the lyrics.
