Josh Brolin Says He’d Return As Marvel’s Thanos ‘Tomorrow’

Josh Brolin expresses willingness to once more take on the character of Thanos within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, stating that he would jump at the opportunity with no second thoughts.

During a recent chat on Josh Horowitz’s YouTube channel, Brolin was queried about reprising his role as the Mad Titan.

Brolin stated that if someone were to contact him in London at this moment and propose the idea, he’d respond by saying he could arrive the next day, given that Marvel is presently shooting the movie Avengers: Doomsday.

Still Close With Marvel Alumni

Brolin shared that he frequently stays in touch with Robert Downey Jr., who is reprising his role as Doctor Doom within the MCU, along with directors Joe and Anthony Russo. These directors are currently working on projects titled “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars”.

Brolin mentioned that he speaks with Downey approximately four to six times a year, and with the Russos around four to six times a week. He added, ‘I converse a lot with Joe [Russo]. We’ve got a joint venture going on. I adore them both – they’re truly remarkable.’

Speaking about how Thanos’s storyline in Endgame was fulfilling, Brolin expressed faith that the Russo brothers would concoct something “extremely entertaining” if they resurrect the character once more.

As a captivated cinephile, I can’t help but feel intrigued by their upcoming project; I have no doubt it will prove to be an engaging spectacle. They truly excel in delivering cinematic masterpieces.

There’s speculation that Brolin might reprise his role as the aged Thanos, a character from the Marvel Comics who rules a conquered universe and searches for someone powerful enough to defeat him in battle.

Chaos on Set Avengers set

Brolin also recalled the unpredictable nature of filming Infinity War and Endgame.

During the filming process of Deadpool 2, the director didn’t always have a fully-developed script at hand. As a result, his appearance on set varied, sometimes showing up with distinctly different styles and occasionally differing levels of physical condition.

“We’d do things over that didn’t necessarily work the first time,” Brolin said.

Memories of Iron Man’s Death

During Thanos’ ultimate clash with Iron Man, Brolin reminisced about Robert Downey Jr.’s late assistant, Jimmy Rich, frequently providing Downey with nicotine gum during filming breaks. He also fondly recalled an instance where he had to touch Downey’s head, humorously describing it as “slightly awkward, a tad inappropriate.

During a heartfelt scene, Josh Brolin playfully recounted a funny backstage incident with Zoe Saldana. Due to the Thanos costume’s adjustable height, Saldan’s line of sight had to be directed upward towards where Brolin’s head should have been, resulting in his gaze being considerably lower, focusing on her waist area instead.

“So she’s looking at that and I’m looking at that,” Brolin laughed.

Josh Brolin currently stars in Zach Cregger’s Weapons.
