As a long-time follower of Hollywood and its intricate web of stories, I find myself deeply torn by the recent developments surrounding Jonathan Majors and his portrayal of Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Do you remember Jonathan Majors, the promising actor who was slated to portray Kang in the MCU and be the “next Thanos” for the franchise? Indeed, as we recently reported, this man was found guilty of attacking his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, physically. As a result, he was sentenced to a 52-week in-person domestic violence intervention program and his career went down the drain.
Besides getting fired from the MCU’s role as Kang, the studio has opted to find a new actor for the part. Consequently, his character was excised entirely from the narrative and replaced with Victor Von Doom, who will be portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., marking his comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Actors, who appear to be finding it tough to regain their former prominence, have recently expressed disappointment about the casting process. He specifically mentioned feeling let down because he believes he wasn’t given a fair chance compared to other actors.
Let’s take a moment to summarize the situation: Actor Jonathan Majors played the role of Kang the Conqueror in various Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, with plans for him to reprise this villainous part in “Secret Wars”. Unfortunately, due to a scandal and his subsequent conviction related to domestic abuse, Majors was dismissed from his position. Initially, Marvel considered recasting Kang while keeping the character, but during the Marvel Panel at SDCC, it was announced that not only had Kang been dropped, but he would be replaced by Doctor Doom instead.
Simultaneously, you might recall that Majors was honored for his tenacity (though it seemed a bit puzzling), and he’s now striving to regain the same level of relevance and admiration as before. However, following the removal and replacement of his character with another antagonist, Majors voiced his belief that this action was unjust.
“Indeed, I’m absolutely devastated about Kang. I must admit, Doctor Doom is truly evil. Now, it’s only right that Mr. Downey has been and continues to receive understanding, interest, affection, and the freedom to express his talent and creativity at such a high level. Unfortunately, I haven’t experienced that same treatment.”

It’s unclear why Ezra Miller is mentioned in the video, despite his role as the Flash, which ended poorly and ultimately resulted in his dismissal. Robert Downey Jr.’s casting, on the other hand, doesn’t relate to his circumstances – RDJ was not fired for domestic abuse; instead, he received a fitting conclusion after portraying the character for over a decade.
In simpler terms, it seems inconsistent for the major to cry wolf repeatedly, but everyone is entitled to their own perspective. However, the idea that this is a racial issue, as TMZ proposed (you can check out our previous report on that), doesn’t hold water because the situations are not at all similar.
