Jon Bernthal’s Punisher Joins Spider-Man 4 for Epic Showdown Against the Hulk!

We get some big news – via Nerdrotic – that Jon Bernthal is joining Spider-Man 4 as The Punisher.

Absolutely, Jon Bernthal has made his comeback as Frank Castle in the “Daredevil: Born Again” series on Disney+. Interestingly enough, Bernthal is also working on a spinoff project, and it’s intriguing that Marvel Comics have decided to resurrect Frank Castle as The Punisher after a hiatus of a couple of years. This pause was primarily due to the character’s politics becoming more progressive or “woke.

What is said about The Punisher and Spider-Man 4?

Information about Jon Bernthal reprising his role as The Punisher in the upcoming Spider-Man film titled “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” originates from Gary Buechler, shared on his Nerdrotic YouTube channel during an interview with renowned comic creator Mark Millar. Millar was discussing his latest self-created comic series, “Psychic Sam,” which is also set for adaptation into a movie.

Millar discusses his initial plans to work on large-scale projects for DC and Marvel, but he ultimately chose to collaborate once more with renowned artist John Romita Jr. on a self-owned project instead. In a recent email newsletter, Millar expressed that there has been a lack of certain character types in comics lately, citing Marvel Comics’ transformation of The Punisher as an example. Consequently, he conceived the idea for a character similar to this, which he described as a fusion between “Death Wish” and “Minority Report,” namely, Psychic Sam.

During their conversation about the project and pop culture, Buechler mentioned that the Hulk would feature in Spider-Man 4, a piece of news released on Monday. Buechler and Millar then shared their views on not wanting Mark Ruffalo’s more lighthearted Smart Hulk character to appear in the film. Millar expressed his hope that it would resemble the John Buscema Hulk from the comics, portraying the wild, untamed Hulk rather than Ruffalo discussing environmental issues. Buechler further added his preference for not having Ruffalo at all and instead using CGI to create the Savage Hulk throughout the movie.

Buechler then drops the bomb that The Punisher will be in Spider-Man 4:

The Punisher is going to be in it, too. That hasn’t been announced, yet.

From the recent Disney Blockbuster Consumers Products presentation, it has been revealed that the Savage Hulk is set to take on the role as the primary antagonist.
