Marvel Studios is currently developing a unique take on The Punisher, starring Jon Bernthal, exclusively for Disney+. This tidbit originated from an interview with a high-ranking executive at Marvel Television, which unfortunately has since been removed from YouTube.
Jon Bernthal is all set to reprise his role as Frank Castle in the series “Daredevil: Born Again,” working alongside Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. The specifics of his character are under wraps, but it’s rumored that he might collaborate with Daredevil in some form. Last we saw Castle was in “The Punisher” (2019) on Netflix, where he fully adopted the vigilante identity.
Marvel has begun using the Special Presentation format to share compact, independent tales that don’t require a full series or movie commitment. The initial pair under this label were “Werewolf by Night” (2022) and “The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special”, offering fresh perspectives on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It appears that Castle is set to be the next character starring in a solo tale using this format.
It seems that Marvel is significantly altering the storyline of “Born Again,” and there’s some doubt about how much focus will be given to Castle in this particular series. Nonetheless, planning a standalone project for him hints at larger aspirations for his character beyond this specific show.
Currently, Bernthal is occupied with shooting “The Odyssey” by Christopher Nolan in Morocco. There, he’s said to be taking on a significant part alongside Matt Damon. Photos of his supposed appearance in the movie have been spreading online.
