This summer, the spectacular return of CAMP MONSTROUS is upon us, a heartfelt homage to the campy 1980s slasher films such as “Friday the 13th,” “Sleepaway Camp,” and “Slumber Party Massacre.” By seamlessly merging immersive theater, live performance, and nightlife, CAMP MONSTROUS tells an innovative queer horror tale in two acts.
Refurbished Camp Monstrous (Exterior): Notorious Camp Monstrous is back in operation this summer, welcoming a new team of camp counselors who are buzzing with tales hinting at the return of Smoke Show, the vengeful park ranger rumored to strike again with deadly intentions.
Inside Club Vibrant: Amidst a glowing nightclub setting, the lone survivor from the initial Camp Monstrous Bloodbath, Lexxe, is pursued by a freshly masked murderer as she vigorously pursues her ambition of becoming a pop star.
As the evening progresses, tension builds up and precisely at the stroke of midnight on a Friday the 13th, the boundary between worlds becomes thin, allowing spirits from days gone by to reemerge and cause mischief.
That’s simply fantastic, we must say! We’ve had the pleasure of attending a remarkable event in the past, and it lived up to every expectation: it was deeply engaging, visually stunning, meticulously themed, and brimming with queer camaraderie. Frankly, who wouldn’t jump at the chance to be the star in their own queer horror tale for Pride? Here, everyone becomes the final hero! Given our current fascination with immersive theater, we’re always eager to delve deeper into such exciting experiences.
Absolutely, there’s no denying the fun and flair that cosplay adds to our gathering! At Camp Monstrous, we invite everyone to don their vibrant 80s attire for an exhilarating evening filled with horror, glitz, and good old summer camp spirit.
Intriguingly, let me clarify the specifics about the Camp Monstrous NYC Pride Party. The event is scheduled for June 12th, and it unfolds at Nowadays in Queens, NY. Remarkably, this NYC Pride party provides a complimentary daytime celebration!
If you come early, from 5 pm to 8 pm, you can enjoy the following for FREE:
- 80s dance music and summer camp games
- Tarot readings and camp counselor shenanigans
- Early access and first drawing of our charity raffle benefiting The NYC LGBT Community Center
Then, the ticketed event begins at 8 pm and goes until 2 am. It features:
- Charity Raffle and grand prize drawing
- Live Performances by Lexxe, Bentley Robles, and Apocalypse Noir
- DJ Sets from Andi, Violet Sky, and DJ Dolarhyde
- Special Performances, Friday the 13th flash tattoos, Polaroid photo ops, marshmallow roasting, and a gory blood wrestling competition
- Outdoor horror screenings and immersive scares all night long
We prefer simplicity, so icons only! Plus, there will be chances for giving back. All funds raised from our charity raffle and donation activities will support The Center, an organization dedicated to offering crucial services for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers, including advocacy, wellness, recovery, among others. Moreover, during the event, we’ll have a Pride Pantry Drive where you can contribute new, non-perishable goods for queer shelters. For every donated item, you’ll receive a raffle ticket.
