As a lifestyle expert, I can’t help but be inspired by Johnathon Schaech‘s journey from regretting his decision to leave acting, only to find himself back in the spotlight with a leading role in Blue Ridge. His determination and resilience are truly commendable. It’s a reminder that sometimes, stepping away can lead us to great things we never imagined possible.
Originally residing in Los Angeles, Johnathon Schaech along with his wife Julie Solomon and their two kids relocated to Nashville, a move where he initially thought acting wouldn’t be part of his life again. In an interview with PEOPLE, the actor admitted that he had given up almost everything and expressed remorse over this choice.
Each morning I’d awaken with dread, wondering what misstep I’d made. Trying to avoid contemplating the power I seemed to possess, I yearned to let destiny and divine intervention guide me once more. Yet, fate had grand designs for me, as I was cast in Prime Video’s fresh series, Blue Ridge.
The TV show where he portrayed Sheriff Justin Wise drew inspiration from his successful 2020 crime drama film. During production, he noted that it had great potential for a series. His enthusiasm to delve deeper into the character ignited this idea, leading to the movie being transformed into a TV series.
Following his return to acting, Schaech looked back on the insights gained while collaborating with Tom Hanks during their film “That Thing You Do.” Schaech shared that this experience boosted his conviction in spearheading a TV series, as Hanks had imparted within him a feeling of optimism and a strong work ethic.
The actor expressed that he’s long believed he could star in a series and emulate the leading role that Hanks had mastered. He noted that Hanks consistently conveyed a feeling of hope, which is something the actor has held onto throughout his career. After adopting these characteristics, the actor from Hush learned how to sustain his acting ability regardless of the scale of the projects.
In the latest episode of Blue Ridge, Ethan Embry, who previously starred with Schaech in That Thing You Do!, made a special appearance. Embry mentioned that it was a privilege to work with him and shared that they had challenging, raw, and gritty scenes to portray. However, they were able to tackle the material effectively thanks to their strong work ethic, which Embry attributes to Tom Hanks, the actor from Forrest Gump.
Schaech stated that he and his colleague share an exceptional work ethic, which they developed while collaborating with Tom Hanks. He also reminisced about the strong bond and camaraderie they forged during their time on That Thing You Do. Furthermore, he complimented Embry’s acting skills in Blue Ridge. After all these years, their affection for each other remains strong. Schaech praised Embry, saying he was exceptional and left everyone in awe.
Blue Ridge is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
