I hear the term ‘GOAT’ tossed around a lot, but John Williams truly deserves it. He’s just the greatest – you can’t think about film without thinking about his incredible music. And honestly, I can’t imagine a Steven Spielberg movie without a John Williams score. Luckily, we won’t have to! I read that he’s actually come out of retirement and is working on the music for Spielberg’s next big sci-fi film, which is coming out in 2026. It’s fantastic news!
I was reading a report from the event celebrating John Williams’ incredible career at Juilliard, and it sounds like we’re getting another score from the master! Apparently, Juilliard’s president, Damian Woetzel, let slip that the 93-year-old Williams is currently in Los Angeles working with Steven Spielberg on a new film. Honestly, that’s the best news a movie lover like me could ask for!
That’s right. There are many reasons why it’s exciting to see these two talents collaborate. For a while, it looked like they might not work together again. John Williams had previously announced that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny would be his final film score. However, he later added that he wasn’t completely ruling out future projects, saying that if a film truly interested him and the timing was right, he’d be open to composing for it. He left the door open to anything.
This is encouraging news for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming, currently untitled film from Universal, which we mentioned last year. The project clearly sparked enough interest to become the 30th time Spielberg and composer John Williams have worked together. Spielberg is also reuniting with frequent collaborator David Koepp (known for films like Jurassic Park, The Lost World, and War of the Worlds), bringing together a familiar and talented team for this new movie.
If you’re reuniting a group, you’d naturally want the best musician in Hollywood composing the soundtrack.
