The John Wick movie series is set to continue with more installments. Contrary to earlier speculations that John Wick: Chapter 4 would mark the end of Keanu Reeves‘ character, Lionsgate has officially revealed plans for John Wick: Chapter 5. In addition, they have also green-lit several spin-offs, including a movie starring Donnie Yen, an animated series, and a high-end video game.
During CinemaCon, held at Caesars Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas, Lionsgate announced that Keanu Reeves will once again play John Wick, with Chad Stahelski set to direct and produce the movie. Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee from Thunder Road Productions are also returning for this project.
Chapter 4, was a blockbuster hit, raking in more than $440 million worldwide. Interestingly, every film in the series has managed to outshine its predecessor, contributing significantly to the franchise’s total earnings exceeding the billion-dollar mark.
Apart from John Wick 5, the world built around this franchise keeps expanding with various spin-offs. The film titled “Ballerina,” led by Ana de Armas, is set to premiere on June 6th. Meanwhile, Donnie Yen will both direct and star in a spinoff focusing on his character, Caine, with production kicking off this summer. Furthermore, the franchise has branched out into television with “The Continental: From the World of John Wick,” which is available on Peacock and Amazon Prime. In addition, a new series titled “John Wick: Under the High Table” is currently in development, with Stahelski and Reeves serving as executive producers.
In addition to movies and TV shows, Lionsgate is taking full advantage of its brand by offering an immersive John Wick-inspired experience in Las Vegas and a much-anticipated top-tier video game that’s currently being developed.
Contrary to Keanu Reeves’ previous statements suggesting John Wick 4 would be the end of the story, Lionsgate seems committed to expanding the franchise further. New ventures across various platforms promise an even larger John Wick world. Fans can now look forward with excitement as they wait for what’s in store for their favorite assassin.
