John Mellencamp became a popular roots rock artist starting in the 1970s and continuing through the 90s. Songs like “Pink Houses” are still widely enjoyed and considered classics, but he’s focused on different music lately.
During concerts, he’s been surprisingly energetic and outspoken. Fans often expect to hear his classic hits, but he’s been performing newer material and creating a more elaborate, show-like experience. He’s also not afraid to share his liberal political opinions with the audience.
However, some fans are disappointed by this change. They’d rather see Mellencamp simply perform his hits, like a ‘human jukebox,’ without any additional stage antics. The artist himself sees things differently, though.
John Mellencamp will be back to doing the hits in his run of shows in 2026
Okay, so I heard some cool news! John Mellencamp is hitting the road again in summer 2026, and I’m super excited. He’s planning to play a bunch of shows from mid-July to mid-August, and apparently, he’s dusting off some old favorites he hasn’t played live in ages. As a long-time fan, I’m really hoping to catch a show and hear those deep cuts!
Looking to hear hits like “Hurts So Good” or “Small Town”? You’re in luck! It’s likely that most of the 20 songs John Mellencamp plays in concert will be familiar chart-toppers.
Tickets for the show go on sale first for those with a pre-sale code on Tuesday, January 20th. They’ll then be available to the general public on Friday, January 23rd. You can find more details on his official website.
