Although many fans are thrilled about the return to the magical world’s stories, some have voiced their disappointment regarding the casting choice of John Lithgow. For those unfamiliar, Lithgow, known for his role in Dexter, has been selected as the headmaster of Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore. However, this decision did not sit well with ardent fans of the franchise.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: “Recently, I had the pleasure of discussing my role on BBC’s The One Show. I find myself stepping into the shoes once worn by the remarkable Michael Gambon. Although I may not hail from England, I’ve certainly portrayed an Englishman on screen before.
Additionally, he made a point to mention that he previously portrayed Winston Churchill in The Crown, a role he feels he delivered admirably.
John Lithgow shared that he feels both exhilarated and daunted about portraying a character from J.K. Rowling’s books. He explained that while he is overjoyed, some people are taken aback by the idea of an American taking on the role of the quintessential English wizard. However, Lithgow assured everyone that he will put forth his best performance on screen.
If you haven’t heard yet, the Max series has unveiled its principal cast members. Among them is John Lithgow, who will embody a venerable and highly respected leader in the mystical realm, while Janet McTeer steps into the role of Minerva McGonagall. Paapa Essiedu takes on Severus Snape. The ensemble also includes Nick Frost as the lovable Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon portraying Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse playing Argus Filch.
The Harry Potter series airing on Max is overseen by writer-producer Francesca Gardiner. Previously, John Lithgow has appeared in Interstellar, with his latest role being in Conclave.
