It appears that John Lithgow may not have been fully informed about the controversy surrounding J.K. Rowling. In response to this situation, the actor, set to feature in HBO’s forthcoming Harry Potter series, has addressed the criticism aimed at the book series’ author.

When conversing with the Sunday Times, the seasoned actor expressed that accepting the part could be a significant choice, as it might be his “final significant role.” He pointed out that due to its eight-year duration, he pondered over “the concept of mortality and this being an ideal winding-down role.
Following the unveiling of his new HBO series, John Lithgow was messaged by a close friend, who is also a mother of a transgender child, and shared with him an article on Book Riot titled “An Open Letter to John Lithgow: Consider Leaving Harry Potter,” as stated in the report.
The astronaut referred to it as a “warning sign,” similar to a canary in a coal mine. He expressed his surprise at the intensity of the reactions that J.K. Rowling’s presence and actions continue to elicit.
Lithgow pondered over why it turned out to be such a substantial element. Moreover, he mused about how Rowling had managed to endure the criticism. He expressed his intention of eventually meeting her, mentioning his eagerness to engage in conversation with the writer.
When questioned if the controversy had made his famous role less appealing to him, the actor responded with a smile, “Absolutely not.
