Dean Cain, famed for portraying Superman in the ’90s television series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” is set to assume a fresh position, serving as an honorary officer with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The unexpected announcement was made by Tricia McLaughlin, a representative from the Department of Homeland Security, indicating that Cain is expected to take his oath next month for an honorary role. Nevertheless, the specific duties attached to this prestigious position are yet to be clarified.
During an interview on Fox News, Cain discussed his forthcoming role. He revealed that he’s had conversations with officials from ICE and is eager to begin. At the age of 59, Cain additionally disclosed that he’s already a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer. In his own words, he shared, “Yesterday, I released a recruitment video – as it stands, I’m a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer – I didn’t previously work for ICE, but once I announced this on the video and you mentioned it on your show, there was quite a stir.
In essence, Cain recently shared a video on social media, urging individuals to consider joining the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. Notably, this call comes at a time when the Department of Homeland Security has removed age restrictions for new ICE recruits. The agency is currently seeking more personnel following significant funding approval by Congress, which supports ICE’s aim to intensify immigration enforcement initiatives.

The fact that Dean Cain decided to work with ICE hasn’t gone unremarked upon. Actor John Leguizamo, famous for his role in Romeo + Juliet, didn’t mince words when he criticized Cain for joining the agency. Leguizamo bluntly stated, “Who on earth would volunteer to be an ICE officer? What a fool! Dean Cain, your status is ‘has/been.'” This pointed remark underscores the ongoing controversy surrounding ICE and its role.

Lately, ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) has faced a lot of harsh criticism. Ever since President Trump resumed his term, ICE has escalated its immigration raids, which have sparked demonstrations and legal disputes in multiple states. Some argue these raids go against the law. Even California Governor Gavin Newsom has taken Trump to court over this issue. In fact, earlier this year, Trump deployed National Guard troops to Los Angeles to manage protests concerning immigration enforcement.
As a self-confessed film enthusiast, I’ve got to share some personal insights about my political evolution. Once upon a time, I proudly identified as a registered Republican, aligning myself with the party’s principles. However, over time, I felt that the Republican Party wasn’t fully embodying the values and beliefs that truly resonated with me. In search of a more authentic representation, I took the leap and switched my political affiliation to Independent.
As a devoted movie enthusiast and vocal advocate for social justice, I’ve never been shy about expressing my opinions – and that includes calling out political figures who fall short of the mark. Back in 2024, I found myself once again speaking up against President Trump’s contentious immigration policies. In a passionate statement, I bluntly stated, “Donald, let’s cut to the chase. We yearn for kind-hearted folks, like those from Switzerland, ski instructors, or fans of Wes Anderson’s whimsical cinematic universe. Just say it: ‘white people.’ It’s not rocket science.”
My criticism stemmed from the belief that Trump harbored a disdain for Latino immigrants, which made any support from our community unthinkable in my eyes. I firmly believe that our nation should welcome individuals of all backgrounds and cultures, fostering an inclusive society that celebrates diversity and unity.
